Looks like he might have lost his right steering toggle, which would cause him to veer left. The experience level of the jumper isn’t given, so it’s hard to say if the cause of the accident was jumper error or an equipment failure.

The You Tube vid is completely inadequate in showing what really happened. The news report states that his canopy collapsed as he turned into the wind to land, but like all news reports, they are full of shit. The video shows no indication of canopy collapse, at least not that I could see. The canopy of the videographer filming this indicates that the jumper was approaching directly into the wind as he should on landing. So why the abrupt left turn? My best guess is the jumper realized he had misjudged altitude on his approach, saw that he would land on the hangar roof, and made an abrupt left turn in an attempt to avoid this. I would suspect this to be the case, but who knows? Stay tuned.
