BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (AP) – President Kurmanbek Bakiyev of Kyrgyzstan told a Russian radio station he is not admitting defeat despite a bloody uprising and the formation of an interim government.

Bakiyev said on Ekho Moskvy that “I don’t admit defeat in any way” but also recognized that “even though I am president, I don’t have any real levers of power.”

Bakiyev said he had fled the capital of Bishkek to the south of the former Soviet Central Asian nation.

Opposition leader Roza Otunbayeva said earlier parliament was dissolved and she would head an interim government that would rule for six months until elections were held.
