Breaking: Protesters Storm Thai Government Building
Tweet
A hundred Thai protesters have forced their way into the election commission building in Bangkok.
The anti-government protesters, known as “Red Shirts”, had threatened to storm the building unless the commission chief met them for talks.
The protesters are angry the commission has yet to rule on whether the ruling Democrat Party violated laws on financial donations, which could lead to the party’s dissolution.
The Bank of Thailand Governor Tarisa Watanagase said the continued street protests would impact on the Thai economy.
The latest building occupation follows three weeks of disruption in the capital including Bangkok’s main shopping district over the weekend.
