Los Angeles Times:

There are a lot of cities that would eagerly welcome an In-and-Out drive-through burger restaurant in their town.

But not San Juan Capistrano.

The South Orange County city has rejected plans for the popular eatery to locate on one of the city’s main drags amid concerns that Del Obispo Street had turned into “Fast Food Alley” and “Cholesterol Row.”

Councilman Tom Hribar, who proposed the ban on new drive-throughs on the street, told the Orange County Register that another such restaurant would further clog already bad traffic. “That was the reason our citizens rebelled,” Hribar said.

In-and-Out officials seem resigned to the idea that the San Juan Capistrano location is out of the question — at least for now.

Fast Food Maven quoted In-N-Out executive Carl Van Fleet as saying: “As for San Juan Capistrano, that decision effectively kills that location for us. We will continue to look for opportunities in surrounding areas.”

The In-and-Out would have replaced a Sizzler restaurant.

So Kalifornia is out on an “In and Out” burger joint, but it’s okay with an “In and Out” marijuana shop, or an “In and Out” fag bar, or an “In and Out” whorehouse or anything else bizarre or immoral, but woe be unto an burger joint.

The whole world is definitely upside down now, where we have a total rejection of everything that is right for everything that’s wrong.

And in & out Burger was founded in SoCal.

It gets worse, get this, the proud “to be socialist” Santa Cruz city council denied a permit to build an Outback Steakhouse franchise on a vacant lot cos it was “in the vicinity” of some hippy-new age-holistic massage joint and the increase in traffic would alter the che/atmosphere or whatever. Currently, S.C. is starving for tax revenue.

      Leftists

I’m not saying…but did anyone check Councilman Tom Hribar’s private meeting log? …like did some of the competition meet secretly to possibly, maybe, you know…like buy a vote to keep ‘In & Out’ out?

    Just thinking out loud…

Does San Juan Capistrano want unemployment
    or people productively at work?

This might be like the car dealerships that were closed because the owners supported McCain…someone should check on the owners and their political leanings.

I smell a rat in the secret sauce here.

Councilman Tom Hribar, you are such a mellon head. do the words free enterprise or capitalism mean anything to you? I know in barry’s America, those two Characteristics are a dying bread. I guess when your city has a short fall of tax revenue, and job losses you may look back and like steenie hoyer said, regret my decision. Oh by the way, the double double is sooo good. I think I will go support In N’Out and get one!

LOW TAXES AND LOW COST OF LIVING. I LOVE CALIFORNIA BUT YOUR STATE IS OUT OF CONTROL..DOUG

Yes it is out of control. That’s what four decades of leftist rule can do to a state. If democrats are allowed to remain in office, that will be the end of any chance of turning it around.
