A “Culture of Regulation” is more like it, such as pretty much banning petroleum drilling on land here in the U.S., the ban on any new refineries and the ban on near shore drilling which is easier thus safer.
Not to mention the fact that drilling accidents like this are so rare this event should prove the rule that offshore drilling is safe even at that depth.
One guy, (the BP Rep.), on that rig, fuck-up when he overruled the other, (several), drilling managers on the rig as to what procedure to use when shutting down the well.
To my knowledge that BP Rep. lived through the event and he’s been tucked away somewhere by BP AND no one seemed to want to have a conversation with him. WTF?
Something stinks in this mess and it’s not just the oil spill.

Stop with the melancholy music and the all caring conservationist washing his hands of any responsibility. These guys are the ones who stopped nuclear energy development and made us more dependent on oil. These guys forced companies farther and farther off shore to drill. I went out with the Coast Guard 3 days ago at 500 ‘ and yes it is a huge mess but we are going to have to learn how to clean up this stuff. BP is certainly not helping itself by trying to muzzle the press. They are as arrogant as this administration.
