It sounds like the guy missing in Cyprus is the paymaster for this spy ring, so he’d have multiple caches of currency and documents as well as other spycraft shit in order to disappear.
I remember reading, in the 1980′s, it may have been something to do with that Iran-Contra deal gone bad, about how Cyprus was kind of a spook central and or a spook crossroads.
Anyways, I’m fairly certain the West will never see this ‘paymaster” again, although it’d be more fun if he did show-up.
