I once encountered an elderly couple in the San Rafael valley area trying to cross over illegally, who were abandoned by the group; they begged for water and medical treatment. I can honestly say that I pitied them – I cannot imagine living in a situation so bad as to necessitate such actions. However, I will never condone their actions – I notified BP, who gave them the assistance they needed, and took them in for processing and deportation.

However, there are constant reports that this group, among others, covertly purchase stolen IDs from criminal entities for distribution to the illegals. It is also said that they shelter illegals in their buildings, and provide them with transportation to a destination within the US.

If this were proven to be true, they would be guilty of a federal crime. I would suggest that the issue could become a worthwhile investigation for SAFE
