It wouldn’t surprise me if we start seeing more of this type of stuff, committing a crime where one is sure to go to jail for a while without have to walk up to a Cop and punch him in the face or something just as extreme.
People at the end of their rope, broke, facing homelessness, to them, jail, with a roof over their head, a bunk and 3 squares a day looks better than a basement stairwell in skid row.
Welcome to Obamaworld.

I’d say you hit the nail on head about those people who rather commit a crime in whatever degree and go to prison just for what you mentioned.
A friend of mine, about 26 years old now, worked as a correctional officer in the prisons. His experience and perception of the inmates and why they’re in prison, for the most part and for the majority of them, is because they are lazy. They don’t want to figure things out or work problems out for themselves.
Shit…life ain’t that bad. Tough it out. Gets better by experience of accomplishment and knowing it was honest.

I have always thought that they should charge those who go on high speed chases with attempted murder/manslaughter. Make it a Felony with some serious time and most will stop…
