WSMV:

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. — Despite multiple pleas to reconsider, two local religious leaders held a private Quran burning in a Springfield backyard Saturday afternoon.

The Rev. Bob Old and the Rev. Danny Allen both had different reasons for burning the Muslim holy book, but they said it had nothing to do with whether or not a mosque was built near ground zero.

“It’s about faith, it’s about love, but you have to have the right book behind you. This is a book of hate, not a book of love,” said Old while holding up a Quran.

The two men said they burned the books to defend the United States Constitution and the American people. It’s a move that has been denounced by Christian groups, politicians and even some of their family members.

Three women who have loved ones fighting abroad stood outside of Old’s home holding up signs to protest the burnings.

“Somebody’s got to stand up for the troops,” said Ashley Parsons.

Parsons’ husband is fighting in Afghanistan. This is his fifth tour of duty. She said she thinks it is shameful someone would take the anniversary of a national tragedy and do something that both the president and military leaders have said could endanger troops fighting abroad.

“I was livid,” Parsons said. ” I was very angry. I was very angry, and I’m scared. I’m scared for my husband. I’m scared for my friends and everybody who protects us.”

Has it come to this, that US troops, their families, and their supposed leaders are afraid of the consequences of offending or mocking the ENEMY?

What on earth is the matter with us?

Yes, our enemy is Islam itself. If our evil Muslim enemies decide to pull any shenanigans as a result of their nasty noses being out of joint, then we RETALIATE with extreme vigor. We do whatever it takes to permanently demolish all of their capability to cause any trouble for us again. If that means we uncork some Oak Ridge vintage bottled sunshine, then that’s what we do. And the sooner the better!

    • Pull

      Right fing on.

    • Clance

But what about muslim Americans? They’re not the ENEMY

Can you imagine MacArthur speaking out against an American citizen mocking or poking fun at the “Japs” or Patton about the “Krauts?”

I do not think that they would have cared at all about what Hitler or the Emporer thought about what the poeple of the United States of America were saying about them…and as far as endangering their troops…Their troops were already in danger THEY ARE IN A WAR WITH A SHOOTING ENEMY! You can’t get much more dangerous than that!

Who cares what the muzzies think? The radicals are crazy anyway…it does not matter what you say or do, they will take it and do with it whatever they please. They are bent on our destruction regardless of what we do…they are set on world-wide domination via Sharia Law and Theocratic rule and a Caliphate and nothing we say or do will change that. Only our victory over them will stop it!

So, Gen. Petraeus, Def. Secretary Gates, Prez Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the sissy-fied rest, need pull of the ruffled panties and pull on the cast iron britches of warriors and defeat radical Islam…period!

Right on Doc. Especially your last paragraph.
In 07 when ol’ Mookie was trying to destroy the cease fire and the Surge was just ramping up. It was suggested to Petraeus, that the Kurds be allowed to come down to Baghdad and help us out, in and around Sadr Shity, oops I mean city. Gen Petraeus response: No they (Kurds) would be to effective. (WTF)

    What our grandparents knew

    Arnold Ahlert

Dec. 7 and Sept. 11 are iconic American anniver saries. Both days represent our greatest failures to understand the true nature of evil. And while each day will be treated with a similar veneration reserved for national tragedies, there is one aspect that truly divides them: resolution.

The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. Four years later, they surrendered unconditionally. If one posits that the war against radical Islam began in 2001 (at least for us), we are in the midst of a nine-year-old conflict that shows no signs of resolution.

How is this possible? In terms of manpower and machinery, Japan was a far more formidable foe than the various umbrella groups that make up Islamic jihadism. Why are we having more trouble defeating them?

Because we’ve “sanitized” warfare. The same nation that detonated two atomic bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki no longer believes in victory, if such victory requires too much “collateral damage,” a k a civilian casualties.
Sounds enlightened, does it not? Who could possibly prefer relentless onslaught and destruction over “winning hearts and minds” and “nation-building?”

Yet consider how out of phase such thinking is. How do you win hearts and minds or nation-build before the enemy is defeated? How do you convince Afghans during the day to risk their lives siding with us, when the Taliban kills them at night — because they still can?

How do you maintain the morale and well-being of American men and women in harm’s way by purposefully prolonging war?

How many lives would be saved by military ruthlessness?

War is ostensibly a last-resort option. It’s supposed to be something so dreadful that it should be avoided at all costs. Do Americans ever wonder how far Islamic jihadists would continue to go if their every provocation were met with an annihilating response? Our grandparents knew the answer to that question.

Dec. 7 is a day of remembrance. Sept. 11 is an open wound — courtesy of Politically Correct Warfare.

I don’t think Ms. Parson’s remembers that our military is an all-volunteer force.

Can anyone imagine where we would be if people didn’t volunteer for our military ’cause it was ‘too dangerous?’

    • ASHLEY PARSONS THE PROTESTER!

Thank you Osgo, and you’re right, my husband does volunteer, and he doesn’t complain, he just tells me what happens as a result of our ignorant actions here… no one knows better than those who are there, the reprisal these guys/gals are catching. My husband will still do his job and I will continue to SCREAM about stuff that’s unfair… Or that could further jeopardize them and their mission.

    Remember in November! :gun:

  • aboutTObegin

FREEDOM of Speech! If they can burn the flag and Bibles, why can Americans not burn their Koran?

Mooselimb culture is a backward retrograde cancer to progress for the civilized world. The appeasement to this cancer will be suicidal to civilization as a whole.

  • ASHLEY PARSONS THE PROTESTER!

Do you have a loved one over there you have to worry about day in and day out. Do you have a loved one you lose sleep over, do you have a loved one that has to go through mobs of protesters thousands of miles away from home fighting a war that’s bullshit anyway. Why should we AMERICANS make their jobs ANY HARDER… This is just making it harder on our AMERICAN troops. THATS MY OBJECTION. So don’t make assumptions about why I protested here’s your reasons got questions email me!

  • Colt.45

I don’t think you understand that we are at war. Our very presence on this earth angers the enemy. Mrs. Parsons, i think you should really think about the overall situation. Your husband’s life is at risk no matter how you think of it. Burning a koran near ground zero won’t jeopardize the mission. Trust me, the military will not be phased by pissed off afghans that are butt hurt over us burning a koran. Any bleeding heart that protests the burning the koran needs to grow a pair.
