Tied: Dems Erase 10 Point Gallup Lead

The Hill:

Say goodbye to the 10-point lead Republicans enjoyed in last week’s Gallup poll of generic congressional preferences.

Gallup’s weekly tracking poll of the generic ballot, a key predictor of voters’ actions in elections, showed Democrats and Republicans tied at 46 percent — down from the 10-point lead the GOP held just a week ago.

The shift, the polling group noted, marked the first time in five weeks where Republicans didn’t hold some sort of advantage over Democrats. Last week’s 51-41 percent lead was heralded as “unprecedented” for Republicans.

The survey, which tracks voters’ preference in a matchup of a generic Democratic and Republican candidates for Congress, still shows a hearty enthusiasm gap for the GOP. The party still leads Democrats by 25 percent in voter enthusiasm, and the GOP leads independents by 22 percent in the same measure.

Still, the poll provides some good news for Democrats on a day in which other polls showed their party ready for a possible drubbing this November.

The latest poll, conducted Aug. 30-Sept. 5, has a four percent margin of error.

Talking to 10 people at 83rd & King Drive in Chicago would give this result.

Here is a 12 point GOP advantage as of Sunday 09/05/10

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 48% of Likely Voters would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate, while 36% would opt for his or her Democratic opponent. The survey data was collected on the seven days ending Sunday, September 5, 2010.

This matches the largest advantage ever measured for the Republicans. Three weeks ago, the GOP also held a 12-point lead.

Still, while the margin has varied somewhat from week-to-week, Republicans have been consistently ahead in the Generic Ballot for over a year. During 2010, the GOP edge has never fallen below five points. When Barack Obama first took office as president of the United States, the Democrats enjoyed a seven-point lead on the Generic Ballot.

Results for this survey are compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for full-week results and generic ballot trends are available for Platinum Members only.

Scott Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Reports, notes that “voters are ready to deliver the same message in 2010 that they delivered in 2006 and 2008 as they prepare to vote against the party in power for the third straight election. These results suggest a fundamental rejection of both political parties.”

A new book by Scott Rasmussen and Doug Schoen addresses the broader discontent roiling the political landscape this year. MAD AS HELL: How the Tea Party Movement Is Fundamentally Remaking Our Two-Party System , published by Harper-Collins, will be released September 14. It can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble,Borders, and other outlets.

A commentary by Larry Sabato now projects the Republicans will pick up 47 House seats, eight Senate seats, and eight governorships. These numbers reflect a significant deterioration for the Democrats.

I had a friend that was called by a poll. When she identified herself as a Republican they hung up on her.

  • NaturalBornAmerican

I got called by a pollster and let them have it straight up regarding Florida races. GOP in every race, especially the Federals and Governorship.

I’m guessing this is a push poll where they ask 20 loaded questions in an attempt to have the participant answer question #21 just the way Gallup wants them to and a client may paying them for a specific result.

I couldn’t find any of the internals of the poll at Gallup’s website, so until, if ever, the internals are published I’m taking with a giant grain of salt, any poll that doesn’t point to a Dem ass-kicking.

They are just prepping our ass for the “We cant believe we pulled this off” moment.

I think it is great…. let them believe the GIGO polls. It should keep our side focused on the only polls that count… in November.

  • tahDeetz

Looks like Gallup had to re-calibrate their internals after getting a shocker.

Gallup’s internals are as closely guarded as Obama’s birth certificate.

This poll is bullshit….has to be loaded. This is the only article I’ve seen in weeks that even claims there is anything less than a 10 point lead. It’s just like when ObamaCare was said to be in danger of not passing…it’s just a move to drum up libtard votes.

I did an informal poll on my own.
Just who would you vote for poll.
I was in a group of white males.
99% Republican 1 Green Party nut case.
From what I see, everybody is voting like they always did, its just the middle roaders leaning Republican.
Women, Blacks and Mexican for Democrats.
    Everybody else Republican.

    As I said a few weeks ago…….

IT IS VERY FUCKING EASY TO RIG AN ELECTION MAKE POLLING COMPUTERS STEAL AN ELECTION, THEN MAKE ALL THE DATA LOOK LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED……AND THE DEMS HAVE MS, HP, YAHOO, GOOGLE, ORACLE, AND MOST OF THE REST THAT WOULD HELP THEM DO IT.

WE NEED TO BE THINKING OF “WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?” TAKING COUNTRY IF THEY STEAL ELECTION AGAIN!!!!!

  • Bobby E.

The hell with these polls. Something awful funny here … just what exactly did the Dems do for the country to ‘erase’ the lead? It’s a smokescreen. I venture to say the lead is much larger than the previously reported 10 points. GO TO THE POLLS AND KICK DEY ASSES!
