NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Lindsey Graham said he was satisfied with his meeting with the Charleston Tea Party.

“Did we have a healthy discussion? Did we solve the problem? No,” Sen. Graham said Wednesday night.

It was straight talk from the Senior Senator from South Carolina about his night with the local Tea Party.

There were lots of thoughtful questions. There were lots of thoughtful answers.

There were a few contentious moments, but far more friendly disagreements.

We would like to show them to you. But we can’t.

Graham wouldn’t allow us to.

Wednesday’s Tea Party evening with Graham in North Charleston was closed to the media.

“This idea that everything has to be on TV, everything has to be in the paper, there has to be some balance to it,” Graham said. “These people deserve a chance to talk with me without somebody writing down everything they said and creating tension.”

That is exactly what they got. No TV cameras or tape recorders. Members of the media were only allowed in as private citizens.

Graham met with the group he once told the New York Times would “die out.”

“The Tea Party has created a movement in the country that can be very helpful if they will help us solve problems,” Graham said.

What do they think of him after Wednesday night?

“I will give him credit for coming to us and hearing our concerns and asking for our input. I think he’s trying to reach out to us,” said Jeff Reuer of Goose Creek.

They talked about immigration, the flat and fair tax, health care reform and term limits for Senators and members of the House.

It was clear Graham was pleased with his private meeting. The question that remains is what does this segment of public think about him now.

“I was actually impressed with some of his positions. I can’t say I agree with everything,” said Steve Weise of North Charleston.

Ryan Johnson with North Charleston City Hall said members of the community are allowed to make use of the conference rooms at City Hall. There is no rental fee, Johnson said.

He said City Hall officials simply supplied the room for the Tea Party group; they had nothing to do with inviting Graham to the event.

    “Good Morning…Welcome To McDonalds…May I Help You”

      Perfect.

  • Pull

Graham is a career liar. The gallows call.

    • Hunter

You were much more to the point. You are correct sir.

  • Hunter

Why would they lower themselves to even meeting with Nancy Graham? It can only lower their stature. He is a progressive idiot, a career politician who will do anything to stay in the ruling class. His comments at the Sotomayor hearing were beyong stupidity. He is for Cap and Trade/Tax. What more do we need to make an assessment about this moron.

They met with him cos they possess Southern charm and manners, in their mind, it would’ve been rude to do otherwise.

No worries though, they’re gonna whack Lindy’s political career in 2014, cos he’s fooling no one and that’s what the idiot RINO Senator is trying to prevent.

  • odin2012

I like the McDonalds idea….Graham would make a good Ronald.

    • aceofwands

      Odin…you are on to something.

The Liberals want Ronald banned…thus keeping Graham in office.

      It’s a plot…

  • Ty

Agree. There’s is no reason at all that the Tea Party should meet with him. Hopefully, they’re smart enough to distinguish his words from his actions. I’m still surprised that one of the worst Rinos we have in office hails from the great state of South Carolina.

  • Patriotofpast

He RAN straight from that meeting to Nancy Pelosi and told her everything. Like a LapDog, he will do anything to remain in DC.
