LEWISBERRY, Pa. (AP) – Police in central Pennsylvania say children going door-to-door to trick or treat discovered a man who had shot himself to death with a shotgun on his front stoop.
The York Dispatch reported Friday that police were called Thursday evening after children found the 68-year-old man in the Conewago Valley Mobile Home Park.
Newberry Township Police tell the paper they don’t know exactly when the man shot himself in the head, and that it’s possible some people thought it was a Halloween decoration.
Authorities blocked off the area immediately, and say they believe that few children saw the scene.
Police say the man was very ill.
The mobile home park where children were trick-or-treating three days before Halloween is located between York and Harrisburg.
