The Confederate Battle Flag will come to be viewed in the 21st century, not as an badge of slavery, which it is not, but as a symbol of opposition to centralized government power and tyranny.

Fly that flag proudly my friends.

I fly our American Flag every day.But as an Alabamian I respect her right to fly the Stars and Bars!

The South Carolina woman is flying the Confederate battle flag, not the Stars and Bars. As a matter of heritage, the Confederate battle flag is the better Confederate flag to fly because as a battle flag, it stands for the military valor of Confederate soldiers — very, very few of whom owned slaves and whose descendents have served in disproportionate numbers in the American Army in wars since the Civil War. The negative reaction to Confederate batle flag is not because of its history as a battle flag for the Army of Northern Virginia, but because of its post-Civil War association with the Ku Klux Klan and segregationists.

Time to create a new flag… for a new war….

I fly the original “stars and bars”. You know someone is ignorant about the War of Northern Aggression (Civil War) when they ask you, “What flag is that?” The old Georgia stae flag was based on the “stars and bars”. When the Confederate battle flag was incorporated in the late 50′s, blacks were aghast and said that it reminded them of slavery, oppression, etc. They had no problem with the old flag, unaware that it was based on the original Confederate flag. Yes,” a mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

The Civil War did not start because of slavery. The Confederate battle flag existed before Lincoln made an issue of slavery in order to galvanize the North against the South. So, let that flag fly. Did any reporter ask that woman if she believes in slavery? Probably not. Why? Because they think they already know the answer or they don’t want to here her answer. Either way, lousy journalism…AGAIN?

Fly the flag!!! This is a personal belief which we are entitled to. People of today, and I refer to African Americans, need to let go of the past. They were not a part of the slave era and therefore, should quit falling back on something that does not My great grandfather fought in the Civil War, does that give me certain entitlements? Not a chance nor does it make me responsible in any way for anything that happened during those years. We are talking about around 145 years ago when slavery ended. Give it a rest.
If there are those who take offense to it, they need mental health counseling to find out who they really are instead of trying to continue to speak with ghosts. We have a right to fly flags of origin to this country, regardless of whether it be the Confederate or the Union.

    Good for her!

I get sick of all this pompous crap from northern liberals portraying the south as bigoted rednecks. Milwaukee had Klan rallies into the early 70′s. Which state had the largest Klan membership? Pennsylvania.
