Congressional Black Caucus Mum On Letting Republican Allen West Join

Nov 8, 2010 10 Comments ›› Pat Dollard

The Hill:

Rep.-elect Allen West (Fla.) said last week, “I’m gonna find out when they meet, and I will be a member.”

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is staying silent about a Tea Party Republican’s bid to join the group.

Rep.-elect Allen West (R-Fla.) indicated last week he intends to join the CBC to challenge the group’s “monolithic voice.”

“I plan on joining, I’m not gonna ask for permission or whatever, I’m gonna find out when they meet and I will be a member of the Congressional Black Caucus,” West, one of two black Republicans elected to Congress last Tuesday, told WOR radio. “I meet all of the criteria, and it’s so important that we break down this monolithic voice that continues to talk about victimization and dependency in the black community.

“We’ve got to turn this thing around, and I think it’s time for some different voices to be in that body politic.”

A CBC spokesperson on Monday declined to comment on West’s bid.

The CBC is currently made up of 41 House members and outgoing Sen. Roland Burris (Ill.) — all Democrats.

West and Congressman-elect Tim Scott (R-S.C.) are the first black Republicans to win House seats since Rep. J.C. Watts (R-Okla.) retired in 2003.

The New York Times has reported that Scott hasn’t yet decided whether he’ll join the CBC.

Of course the meetings will now be set up in secret, so Mr. West cannot join, and then they will let it be known he never attended any meetings, because as a Republican, you know, he is raaacccciiiisssst…

He is an uncle Tom and an oreo. This disqualifies him for the caucus and he does not hate whites. I should think most of the men he saved in Iraq were Anglos. It is a cool move on the part of West, the caucus will have to take him or show their true colors. No pun intended.

Remember, we as Americans are not judged by the content of our character, but by the color of our skin. So if your democrat, you typically have no content of character to use to advance yourself, so you’ve got to rely upon other variables to set yourself apart from others. But if your black and you have character, your not going to fit the pc mold of being black and your going to get excluded.

Fine fella, this guy. Credit to his race as if that matters. Most blacks will shun him, calling him Uncle Tom and other epithets. They will NEVER get it.

Stand tall Col. West. I hope you run for President someday. You will have my vote, despite the fact that I’m white, support the Tea Party and therefore racist because of it.

When the fuck is a CWC going to be formed? And, I am still waiting for the WET network to be established, I mean, what the fuck?

I have heard this guy talk on some utube clips.I like his politics but fear he is not black enough for the cbc. He seems to be successful by way of hard work, pride and honor. Something the majority of the black caucus and race would rather get in the mail.

With Col./Congressman West in the White House, who would fuck with us?

Who would have guessed that in 2010, the United States Congress would have an officially recognized racially based good ‘ol boys club? Martin Luther King Jr. is spinning in his grave.
