Jeff Bridges Owns The Box Office

“Little Fockers” took the top spot at the weekend box office, but movies starring Jeff Bridges took the next two slots.
The comedy sequel “Little Fockers” (Universal) starring Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand took in $34 million according to early estimates from Hollywood.com. Final figures are due out on Monday, and in close races, the standings could shift.
The movie “True Grit,” co-starring Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld, and Matt Damon, took the second slot. “True Grit” (Paramount) an adaptation of the novel by Charles Portis, took in $25.6 million in its first weekend in theaters.
“True Grit” had previously been made into a movie in 1969 that starred John Wayne and earned the actor an Academy Award. The new version was adapted by filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen.
“Tron: Legacy” (Disney) which also stars Bridges, placed third with $20.1 million.
