Sgt. Tommy Thompson says the shooting occurred shortly before midnight Sunday at the Great Alaskan Bush Company.
Police say a 28-year-old man walked into the club in the 2900 block of Grand Avenue and opened fire, hitting four people before running out of ammunition.
“We had a man show up with a hand gun and shot the bouncer at the door and made his way inside and fired off several rounds,” said Phoenix Police Lt. Sean Kennedy.
Thompson said people inside the club then wrestled the man to the ground and held him until police arrived.
The first victim, 34-year-old bouncer Adam Troy Cooley, died from gunshot wounds after being rushed to a hospital.
The second victim, 20-year-old Antonio Garcia, was a patron of the club.
Two other patrons were shot. One is in critical condition, while the other remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
There’s no word on a motive for the shooting. The suspect faces homicide charges.
