Curiosity killed the caribou. After the 2nd miss, I’d throw a rock at it.
Blade Runner
Obviously, the first rifle she was shooting wasn’t sighted in. They should have checked the zero before they went out. Safe bet she isn’t the first hunter that has had that problem. I could tell of some of my own fuck-ups.

The old man was sure the varmint rifle was sighted in. Seems he forgot he fell on the damn thing,I have had it happen to me, he knocked it outta wack.

Mama Grizzly is one tough cookie and a good shot! Hope I can be nearly as good with my aim one day!

OK. But look at the close-ups of the missed shots with the first rifle. Why is her right hand bloody? Look at the horns on the caribou shown being shot at. Then look at the horns she hands Piper, the “trophy”. Like the kid says when she sees the hindquarter, it’s a “tiny” animal. Probably the size of a large German Shepherd. Yeah, it’s meat, but why the hype? Why the deceptive sequencing of the filming?
Understand, I”m both pro-hunting and pro-Palin. But this film leaves me a bit embarrassed. As her daughter seemed to be during the “that’s its leg” sequence.
One-Shot
Seems that once she was handed a rifle with a good zero, she dropped it dead. Miller Time

she first needs some practice on knowing when to shoot, when the animal is broad side and not running. Secondly she needs more time behind her rifle, she obviously wasn’t comfortable with it. I’d rate that hunt 4 out of 10
DC
She also need sto learn trigger discipline. She had her finger on the trigger well before she was lined up to fire.

Not a typically edited perfect hunting video, but I give Sarah a lot of credit.
She stayed cool enough to make the shot, despite a malfunctioning rifle. Many a hunter would have devolved into a buck fever rattled mess.
She did not have the editor make her look flawless as do most of the on camera hunters.

Before writing the headline, someone needs to figure out the difference between a reindeer and a caribou. (Hint: a reindeer is not a big-game animal.)
Looks like someone need to read a bit more on a difference between a reindeer and a caribou

My thought was I hope she knows what’s on the other side of that hill. Not a shot I would take unless I knew damn good and well I wasn’t shooting at another hunter who might be on the receiving end of a stray shot. Just a thought.

That’s not a problem in AK the next nearest hunter was likely 50-150 miles away. And the pilots know where they are.

Don’t see the sport unless you can crawl up, jump on its back and ride it for 8 seconds. Rather go on Safari and hunt RINO.

Daroof,
Since we’re talking about Alaska, not Europe/Asia, a reindeer is a commercial animal raised by Eskimos for food. I don’t think the nearest village cooperative would much appreciate Sarah nailing one of their “cash-cows.” On the other hand, Caribou licenses are readily available in Alaska.
