CNN Poll: Trump Tied For First Place In GOP Presidential Race

The Hill:

Real estate mogul Donald Trump is tied for first in the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, according to a new poll of Republicans.

Nineteen percent of Republicans named Trump, who is flirting with a run for the party’s presidential nomination, as their top choice for the nomination, according to a CNN/Opinion Research poll released Tuesday. Another 13 percent said Trump was their second choice for a nominee.

That level of support is enough to for Trump to tie former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R).

Trump’s surge still serves as one of the most interesting — and most surprising — developments in the fledgling race for the Republican nomination next year. An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll last week pegged him as tied for second place, reflecting a growth in support no doubt served by his high level of media saturation and professed suspicion that President Obama might not have been born in the U.S.

Trump scored 10 percent in last month’s CNN poll, meaning he effectively doubled his support over the course of a month.

Fifty-six percent of Republicans in the CNN poll said they would like to see Trump seek the nomination, a less encouraging figure than for Huckabee or former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R). Seventy-two percent of Republicans said they want to see Huckabee run, while 66 percent said the same of Romney.

The most curious numbers in the poll reflect drops in support for Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich over the past month. Eleven percent of Republicans said they want to see Romney win the nomination, down from 18 percent last month. (Romney formally entered the race on Monday.) Gingrich, meanwhile, scored support from 11 percent of Republicans, down from 14 percent last month.

The poll, conducted April 9-10, has a 5 percent margin of error for the Republican sample.

Trump’s surge is directly correlated to his public challenge of Obama’s eligibility. The American people are not fooled by the asinine media tools who are setting aside the rule-of-law for personal gain. Obama is a fraud and pretender with sufficient material doubt to support an investigation by the House of Representatives into the question of his legitimacy. This post is calling for the House Majority Leader to conduct an investigation, with all relevant records sudpoenaed, into Obama’s eligibility and, in the absence of material proof, the initiation of the impeachment and/or removal process. This is his DUTY. Anything less is pure cowardice.

A question for Donald: If you beleive the case for Obama’s ineligibility to be valid, and recognize the import of the constitutional questions involved, then why would you not, as a patriot, publically champion a congressional investigation to answer the question?

If you are serious about the issue, then act as a leader and challenge congress to act. If you cannot rise to the threat, then you lack Presidential mettel and should just go away.

Trump is a breath of fresh air in a place that usually stinks of political correctness. Just like a high pitched whistle makes the ears of a dog stand up so does the truth get the attention of the American people. We are weary of the BS. We’ve been wandering the desert and all we’ve come upon are mirages — until now. Trump is a tall cool refreshing drink. This is the truth and we want more of it.

The Donald has stated what a great guy and wonderful mayor Bloomberg is. Explain that one.

    • Ohnooo

“The Donald has stated what a great guy and wonderful mayor Bloomberg is. Explain that one.”

Yeah and also explain his principled campaign contributions to Chucky Schummer, Rahmit Emanuel for Mayor and other Democraps according to Mark Levin on his radio broadcast..and Levin doesn’t lie..I’m not so sure about Trump..he strikes a note with his China and Obama birth stuff, that’s about all he can dish out so far…

Is this a similar attempt (as with Meg Whitman running for governor in CA) to buy a political office and be inexperienced? The President can’t fire congressional members who disagree with him as in corporate America. The highest office in the land is expected to work with law makers, the American community, and the international community, not intimidate or be self-serving. Trump as President, what a disaster.

I am concerned by Huckapardon being so high in the polls.

Have people forgotten Huck pardoned a felon who went on to rape a child and murder four officers?

Guess that’s what primaries are for. Past records will be exposed.
