Not ‘A Mile’ Of Border Secure, Texas Sheriff Says

Texas Sheriff Tomas Herrera said he does not agree with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s assessment of security at the U.S.-Mexico border as being “better than it has ever been.”

Herrera, in a telephone interview with CNSNews.com, said that not “a mile” of the 85-mile stretch of border in Maverick County, Texas, which is separated from Mexico by the Rio Grande River, is secure and that the violence of Mexican drug cartels is spilling over into the United States as cartels come into Texas and kidnap teenagers for their smuggling operations.

“They come in and kidnap some of our citizens in this county and take them into Mexico,” Herrera told CNSNews.com. “We’re talking about young kids.”

“These are high school kiddos and junior high kids that are used by the cartels to smuggle drugs into the United States,” said Herrera, who has been in law enforcement for 37 years and sheriff of Maverick County for five.

I no longer camp at a spot my family and friends have been going to for years in the SoCal desert. It’s become a corridor for illegals. There is a railroad spur they follow about a mile from our camp. 10 years ago we were sitting around the camp fire when we were approached by 11 illegals. We were caught completely by surprise. They were thirsty and hungry. We gave them water and they left. They were harmless and unarmed (as far as we knew). I don’t go back there anymore. Many people have died along that corridor. I stopped counting after 30 or so. It has to be above 100 or more now. The border is a joke. East of San Diego the only deterrent in some stretches is a single strand of barbed wire, much like the picture above. In AZ and TX the numbers are much worse. Thousands die and it goes unreported or is marginalized. So, Janet thinks it’s as safe as ever? Tell that to Robert Krentz.

Do they really think the only people crossing the border are potential democrat votes? How does one go about becoming that ignorant?

I’d wager all the powers that be could care less about our southern boarder. Until all Americans understand that these people are a drain on our Nation and we do not bennifit from illegal aliens mooching off our American way of life, this will continue. And until companies refuse to hire, and Americans refuse to shop and support said companies this will fester. As a small business owner I refuse to hire them. But other small builders like myself hire them all the time, go figgure.
