Reid Says Senate May Take Action Against Americans Burning Korans

Apr 3, 2011 16 Comments ›› Pat Dollard

Politico:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told CBS’s Bob Schieffer on Sunday that some members of Congress were considering some kind of action in response to the Florida Quran burning that sparked a murderous riot at a United Nations complex in Afghanistan and other mayhem.

“Ten to 20 people have been killed,” Reid said on “Face the Nation,” but refused to say flat-out that the Senate would pass a resolution condemning pastor Terry Jones.

“We’ll take a look at this of course…as to whether we need hearings or not, I don’t know,” he added.

Meanwhile… Reid doesn’t seem to have a problem with illegal immigrants in the United States burning the US flag…..

Meanwhile… Reid doesn’t seem to care that the people in Afghanistan learned about the book burning from their President, who encouraged a “justified” revolt against it….

If Jones is responsible for people being killed, then so is the President of Afghanistan for notifiying and organizing the citizens of Afghanistan to protest.

.. oh wait.. inconvient truths for Reid. Meanwhile Reid whines that the tax cuts for the budget will hurt the “Cowboy Poetry” event in Nevada….. no joke. How in the world did our state EVER re-elect this clown?

      Amen!

I’ve often wondered how Nevadans elected Reid in the first place………

      ….let alone RE-ELECTED him???

fat chance. SCOTUS has been very clear about 1st ammendment issues.

douche bags protesting soldiers funerals is different than essentially yelling fire in a theater. If you burn a bible, people might look at you funny, but if you burn a koran, somebody is going to die. It’s just the way that it is. (I don’t agree with this fucked up 7th century way of thinking, but…) This stupid fuck should be put on a flight to Kabul, be given a Koran and a can of lighter fluid when he gets off the plane with the instructions to go ahead and burn one here.

That is an excellent point.
I am sooo surprised and proud of the family members and the servicemen at these funerals. What control they have. If it was my kid we were burying, I don’t know what would happen.

Do we prosecute women who get raped? Do we prosecute them even when they dress and act like sluts?

If you answer “no” to the above, you live in America. If you answer “yes,” you live on the other side of the world or in a nuthouse.

So why should it be so different in this one case? Criminals are still criminals, regardless of whether they were instigated or egged on. If I call some stranger something offensive and he shoots me for it, the stranger is still guilty of murder. “He called me a [fill in the blank]…” is a damned weak defense in court.

Once again, why so different? Oh…I forgot…bc you’re a fudge-packing pussy who’s afraid of a bunch of stone-age miscreants armed with bombs and AK-47s.

What part of Freedom of Speech does Senator Reid not get?

Burning the Koran, any other holy book, and the flag are protected by the First Amendment as expressions of free speech, even if others of us disagree.

Why don’t these Congress critters read the Constitution before running for office? Sigh

    • derised1

I want to add that as Americans, we have to staunchly protect our Freedom of Speech rights! We are the world’s exception with regard to that.

F those who have a problem with it. The framers were right on!

Burning the Koran in Fl. is killing Muslims in Afganistan…. this could be the weapon we’ve been looking for.

Didn’t the president of Afghanistan say the other day that congress should condemn the pastor? If Reid is going to take the advice of a foreigner on US policy, isn’t he a traitor?
White guilt is going to be the death of this country.

Terry Jones is a nutjob (http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,716409,00.html
) but in the US we have the freedom to do what ever we like in the way of free speech. If the WBC can protest funerals then qurans or anything else should be fair game.

    I really like his glasses.
