I am not a fan, but I have to agree with you on this one point. I have made the argument for years that one cannot pick and chose which verses to follow. It’s in for a verse, in for the whole Bible (my apologies to the pence/pound author). People will pick a passage the is convenient for whichever purpose is the flavor of the month. It is tiresome. The three major monotheistic religions all believe in the first 5 books of the old testament. It goes astray after that, but, hey, it’s religion.
