This Could Be It: Sarah Palin Buys A Home In Scottsdale?

May 21st, 2011 (32) Posted By Pat Dollard.

Earlier this year, Politico reported that Sarah Palin would base her campaign in Scottsdale, Arizona if she were to run for the GOP nomination.

Arizona Republic:

Has Sarah Palin bought a house in north Scottsdale?

For months, rumors have circulated in Arizona political circles that the former Alaska governor and possible 2012 presidential contender either was shopping for homes in Scottsdale or had already bought one.

A just-closed deal on a secluded luxury home in far north Scottsdale might fit the bill, and talk has begun that this may be the one. It’s an 8,000-square-foot, dark-brown stucco home with a guard gate that can keep unwanted visitors away. It has six bedrooms, five bathrooms, a six-car garage, a swimming pool and spa, and a full basement with a home theater, billiards room and wine cellar.

Safari Investments LLC paid $1.695 million cash for the home in a deal that appears designed to cloak the identity of a high-profile buyer.

Safari Investments is a Delaware limited liability firm formed May 12, the day before the deal for the Scottsdale home closed. No officers are listed on the Delaware filing, and that state doesn’t require the names of individual associated with limited liability companies to be disclosed. High-profile people often buy homes through LLCs to maintain their privacy.

Alan Kierman, an attorney with the Phoenix law firm of Mack Drucker & Watson, is listed on property records as the contact for Safari Investments. Asked point blank by The Arizona Republic if Palin and her husband Todd Palin bought the north Scottsdale house through the company, Kierman said he had no comment.

In north Scottsdale’s scenic desert, the former foreclosure house was purchased by real estate agent and investor Ian Whitmore in March 2010 for $805,000. He sold it May 13 to Safari Investments, but said he doesn’t know who is behind the limited liability company. The home was half-renovated when it was taken back by the lender JP Mortgage Chase Bank in 2009.

Requests seeking comment from Palin or her aides made Friday and Saturday through her political action committee, SarahPAC, were not successful.

Confirmation of a Palin house purchase in Scottsdale likely would rekindle chatter about whether Palin might run a political campaign out of Arizona, the home state of U.S. Sen. John McCain, who plucked her from relative political obscurity in 2008 to be his vice-presidential running mate.

Palin has been rumored to be considering headquartering her 2012 White House campaign, if there is one, in Scottsdale. She also has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.

Palin has made multiple visits to Arizona since the night in November 2008 when, at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, McCain conceded the presidential election to Democratic rival Barack Obama. Palin’s daughter, former “Dancing With the Stars” celebrity finalist Bristol Palin, last year purchased a five-bedroom house in Maricopa.

Palin’s name started coming up in Arizona in March, when state Rep. Steve Farley, D-Tucson, repeated a rumor of a possible Palin bid for the U.S. Senate in his weekly newsletter to constituents. Farley told The Republic at the time that he heard the rumor from two Republican lobbyists whom he declined to name. The same week, a Politico blogger quoted an anonymous source as saying Palin might base a potential presidential campaign in Scottsdale.

The Arizona Democratic Party’s website asked, “Is Sarah Palin moving to Arizona?” and used the rumors to try to raise money.

The speculation was enough for Public Policy Polling, a Democratic company based in North Carolina, to include some questions about Palin in its most recent automated telephone survey of Arizona voters. One question asked respondents whether they would like for Palin to move to Arizona. Fifty-seven percent said no. Another 27 percent said they would like her to relocate to the state, while 16 percent were not sure.

The poll of 623 Arizona voters was conducted April 28 to May 1 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.

who cares? is she going to run or not? I don’t give a rat’s ass where she lives.

  • wiscowoman

I agree get in or out so we can start vetting them

  • tlk

Why would she leave Alaska? It must be the most beautiful place in our country.

    • oic

Traveling back and forth time consuming. If this is the property, the scenery don’t look as nice as the one she have in Alaska

  • tlk

She was a much more interesting person before she changed…

  • derised1

    Smart move by Team Palin!

It would be extremely hard to run a POTUS campaign from Alaska. She needs a HQ in the lower 48 for traveling and other reasons.

She will be close to Bristol & her grandson Tripp. A win-win!

In AK, Sarah was removed from the issues border states faced. Now we just need to get Pat to catch her up to speed on border issues.

    • koz

Exactly right. Having lived in AK and here in the lower 48, it would cost a small fortune just in the back and forth between Anchor-town and wherever she is slated to make the next speech.

It will be enough of a challenge to get enough campaign funding without adding more cost unnecessarily.

  • derised1

Freaking Awesome house by the way! It’s perfect, private, and gated!

  • tlk

One of the things that I admire about her is her background in Alaska. Doesn’t make sense.

    • derised1

If you read my comments above, it is not possible to run full time for prez from Alaska. It is too far for travel to the lower 48 states. She will be on the road every day.

Arizona makes sense because her home is near an airport. She has many friends and contacts in Arizona including Gov. Brewer (who went up to Alaska to see Sarah a couple of months ago). In fact, Sarah has been spending a lot of time in Arizona during the last few months. Also, Bristol & Tripp live within 1 hour of Sarah’s new home.

I think she will have homes in Alaska and Arizona. Maybe other states too. She has enough money now. I want to see her move to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

    • Bob

Flying to Alaska adds a whole day to travel. It makes more sense to live in the lower 48 for a campaign.

  • reagant

How do these “public servants” make enough money to have multiple homes? Ridiculous

    • derised1

She give tons of public speeches, has written two best-selling books, and has a lucrative contract with FOX.

She also does a lot of charitable work.

She represents the best of free market principles and the American work ethic. The market will pay you what you are worth if you work hard at it.

The market decided she is worth millions. An American success story. More power to her!

    • derised1

Oh and I forgot to add her financially successful “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” cable tv series which is now being sold on DVDs.

The girl’s got it going on! She can buy as many homes as she wants with her money. She earned it!  :gun:

    • reagant

      ok…. worship sarah much?

    • derised1

I just tell it like it is.

Yes, she is my choice for president in 2012 but she is not perfect. This is after extensive research on my part. Others are free to choose their own candidates.

Yes, I admire her success and other Americans who have made it from rags to riches. This is what makes America a great country!

    • oic

She made that money out of office. A better question is How Obama make that made that money while in office?

  • Axel

Nice crib. Why in AZ as opposed to some other lower 48 state? Warm weather? What does it matter about Bristol, she will be doing that stupid reality TV show that we will have to suffer miserably through w/the media. I am so dreading that.

I am  Derised, what is not perfect about Sarah?

    • derised1

Nobody’s perfect. You are not going to agree with Sarah 100% of the time on policy, neither will I. As far as hotness goes, she has no match.

Arizona is where many of her friends are like Gov Brewer, Congressman Paul Gosar, John McCain (yeah, he introduced her to the world), and others.

Bristol and Sarah have a close relationship. Bristol is a big supporter of her mom and is often present at her mom’s speeches, including the Wisconsin Tea Party Speech. Sarah always goes to bat for Bristol including showing up on Dancing With The Stars when Bristol was on.

I think Bristol’s new reality show will be a hit with minorities and the youth voters. Rumors are that Sarah may make a cameo or two.

    • Axel

I guess my question is, what do you not like about her?

    • derised1

I am just being realistic in that there may be times when I may not agree fully with her policy stances. So far, I am with her on all the important issues. I am still waiting to see what her platform will be when she runs for POTUS.

There are no politicians who will be 100% right on every issue. I can’t expect Sarah to be either.

Btw – playground equipment was just delivered to this home. A woman and man who looked like Sarah and Todd have been seen there also. So yep, this gorgeous home will probably be Palin 2012 HQ.

I’m glad. I hope she gets in. My problem is, if Michelle Buchman gets in. Either would be a good conservative option. Herman Cain would be an option as VP or Allen West. Whom ever would shut the Southwest Border down, increase Military Spending, create jobs etc. I just pray there will be an election in 2012. God knows what soetoro or the New World Order Masters have up their sleave.

    • derised1

Bachmann has no executive or foreign policy experience. No legislative accomplishments in Congress. She makes too many gaffes to be ready for prime time.

Herman Cain has not held any elected office and suffers from the same lack of experience as Bachmann.

Dark horse long-shot candidates like these two have no shot at winning the GOP primaries. They are wasting time and money. More power to them if they want to run but they are not in the top-tier of candidates and won’t last.

LoL, Sarah Palin doesn’t need to buy a home, she lives rent free in the liberal’s heads 24/7

  • kim

Kick ass house  , I could see Palin/Cain ticket.

    • derised1

      :gun:

  • Cold Soldier

As much as I DO NOT want Shara Palin for the G.O.P. candidate…she is the only viable option I see right now…after Ron Paul, who will never win, due to people simply NOT understanding the Consitiution.

Also people “Love” or “Hate” Palin less, if that makes any sense, and trust me the margin is small.

I guess we should take this further emasulation of the American White Male in stride..as we have facilitated our own demise

The woman doesn’t stand a chance in hell. As much as I like her as a person, she is far too naive. ‘Like-ability’ is a Leftist voting strategy. We need to begin honing a team that compliments eachothers’ weaknesses, but together, are capable of wiping the floor with team Obama in any debate (which isn’t necessarily difficult if we can purge the RINOs lifetime politicians dug in like ticks.

    • amy

I agree. The libs have been after her since McCain picked her. And, I’m sorry to say, it’s working. People who don’t follow politics have been brainwashed by the press.
If she gets the nomination though, I will campaign and vote for her. We have got to get rid of obama. :gun:

  • kagiso

Sarah Palin is NOT perfect but she is an honest and patriotic American .. Someone I would vote for … I feel the same about Col. West or Michelle Bachmann ..

  • Musing Lew

    Ah Tyler,
Its sad to see someone who has bitten off the liberal media’s cookie and chewed it so well. Palin is naive? Please, there’s no one that has weathered an all out assault from the Obamessiah’s propaganda machine the way Sarah has. Not only has she stood the test, but orchestrated the lattice upon which solid, conservative representatives took flower and grew into our house of representatives to seize the gavel from Nancy’s wretched mitts.
You are delusional if you think she doesn’t stand a chance. Observe how she plays her cards close to her vest as half of the offered GOP competition folds before the hand has fully been dealt. (See Huckabee, Daniels etc)
Lastly, I suggest you look back to the vice presidential debate of ’08 if you would like a lesson on how one “mops the deck” with a liberal in a debate. You, sir or madam, watch too much liberal news programming….

Can you say “OVERPAY”!!! Who buys a home for double the price it was sold last year..

Here’s a great big SUCKER to you???

I’m moving to Arizona, put up “hard money wanted” signs at the busy 4 way section and start scooping up homes to sell to suckers for double in the year.

Ian can thank the taxpayers for his new millionaire status. Taxpayers bail out banks and give homes to so called “investors” so they can flip for double. Why doesn’t the bank just hire some out of work realtors to sell the homes for JP Morgans profits hence the Taxpayers profits.

What a joke this country is ..
