Report, Developments: Palin Quits “One Nation” Bus Tour Halfway Through

Real Clear Politics:

Less than a month after she appeared poised to shake up the Republican presidential campaign, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has once again receded from the 2012 limelight.

When Palin launched her “One Nation” bus tour on Memorial Day amid a swirl of media attention and excitement from her fervent fan base, many political observers who had once dismissed her were reminded of the jolt that her candidacy could provide to what has thus far been a relatively sleepy GOP nominating fight.

As Palin toured historical sites along the East Coast, she was clearly reveling in the tangible excitement she’d ginned up: She even eagerly answered questions — from the denizens of the “lamestream” media — ranging from matters of political process to an array of issues facing the nation.

In an apparent repudiation to those who dismissed her trip as a mere publicity stunt, Palin’s openness with reporters about her intentions to visit Iowa and South Carolina — in addition to her highly scrutinized stop in the first-in-the-nation primary state of New Hampshire — lent credence to her repeated assertions that she was indeed seriously considering a White House bid.

Though Palin and her staff never announced a timeline for the remaining legs of her trip, aides had drafted preliminary itineraries that would have taken her through the Midwest and Southeast at some point this month. But those travel blueprints are now in limbo, RCP has learned, as Palin and her family have reverted to the friendly confines of summertime Alaska, where the skies are currently alight for over 19 hours a day and the Bristol Bay salmon fishing season is nearing its peak.

As Palin enjoys her sojourn to the 49th state, she has not reconnected with key early-state figures like Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and she may have jeopardized whatever political momentum she gained from her recent reemergence in the 2012 discussion. Her political action committee’s website still greets visitors with a stale banner, announcing the nationwide bus tour beginning “[t]his Sunday, May 29th.”

More than a few of Palin’s core supporters have grown impatient and confused about her strategy, venting their frustration on Internet fan sites.

Although Palin announced a break on June 1 to ABC, no one expected it to last at least another three weeks, with no sign yet of resumption.

ABC News, June 1:

Palin confirmed that she’s going to Boston after New York and that after the northeast, she’ll go back to Alaska before re-launching the tour – called the “One Nation Tour,” after all – on the West Coast.

She told ABC News about her plans after she leaves the northeast:

“Go back to Alaska – in fact today, Willow [the middle Palin daughter] already had to get back to work so she had to leave – go back to Alaska, come back on the trail again, and take the tour west as the summer progresses.”

She needs time to spend with her family and read the story about Paul Revere.

    • tahDeetz

Actually Tom, you need to read up on Revere.

Palin was correct & she was confirmed by NPR, the LA Times & the Boston Globe, not to mention, Boston historians.

You’re correct! Palin was exactly right!

Unfortunately, h8ters won’t let that stop them from spewing their idiotic nonsense.

Old North Church Vicar Defends Palin on Revere via bostonherald.com > http://bit.ly/jbA7uY

The vicar was the official tour guide who told her the correct historical account of Paul Revere that day.

People need to learn their history before spreading false memes.

Elvis has left the building. Thank you very much!

The definitive account of Paul Revere’s ride by David Hackett Fischer:

He never made it to Concord, he was captured and released by a British patrol (minus his horse) after he told them the jig was up, had to walk back to Lexington, finding Adams and Hancock *still* there. Finally got them to the nearby town now called Burlington, when Hancock’s clerk remembered they had left a trunk in Buckman Tavern on Lexington Green that contained all kinds of incriminating evidence. Back to Lexington to retrieve the trunk, arriving just in time to see the Regulars appear at the edge of Lexington, and carried the trunk away through the hurriedly assembling militia of Captain Parker.

One of the best books ever written. If you haven’t read it, get it ASAP. Be sure to pass it along to friends and family.

To Delta – Thanks for that tip!

Will check it out!

Tom in CO. You’ve come out from under your rock for too long, go back troll. Palin was proven correct in her Paul Revere account by many historians, even one from NPR. Your obsessions with Palin are borderline psychotic.

    • Bobby E.

No … his obsession with Mitt Romney is borderline psychotic. Actually … I think he crossed the borderline.

  • Sheila

    Awesome post.

  • Axel

Maybe she is on the islam hit list of the 40 people, I have never heard her speak about islam that I can recall. I still want to see that list.

With it being hotter than a bucket of red ants and the humidity so thick you can cut it w/a knife I would go to Alaska too.

Yup…fishings great right now! Have to go to California on buisness though for 3 days

Bullsh*t! Her tour is still on!

Love how Sarah keeps the LSM in the dark. How very Sun Tzu of her!

  • Gator

With the exception of Tommy Boy, excellent post one and all. Wait, was that Cabin Boy and the skipper??

  • derised1

It may be time to take down this post now that Sarah has said that it is not true. Just sayin. LoL!

  • Stanley Culp

Once a quitter, always a quitter. Quitters never win. Sarah quit the bus circus because donations to her self serving PAC were too small to pay the bus bills.

    • derised1

No. Sarah is on Jury Duty in Alaska and said she will take her bus tour to Iowa and other states when she is done with that. Jury Duty in Alaska can last as long as 30 – 90 days in some parts of that state.

If you don’t understand the reasons why Sarah resigned as Alaska Governor then you should check out Alinsky’s Rule for Radicals and watch the Stephen Bannon documentary film on Sarah entitled “The Undefeated” which premieres soon.

Unless you are a anti-Palin troll then you will get why she resigned, is more influential than before, and is now poised to run for president.

  • displaced chedhead

Who the #*# is stanley culp? I’ll tell you who he is.
Nope, won’t do it. He can troll here all he wants. If he gets nasty then I will expose him. At this time he is o.k. just a dissenter.
All points of view are considered. His of course is nasty.
Because it’s not a point of view but an indicment we must respond.
Hey stanley culp, did Al Gore quit? Did John Kerry quit? did joe lieberman quit? NO dumb-ass they all kept their positions so they could continue to make money.
It is the strong and virtuous that leave their standing for the greater good.
Do you get that stanley culp?
