Pelosi And Boehner Reject Camp David Debt Summit – With Video

Politico:
Tensions are running so high over debt talks that Capitol Hill leaders are turning down a trip to Camp David before it’s even clear the White House has invited them.
“The only thing I hope [President Obama] doesn’t ask us to do is to go to Camp David,” said Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on Thursday. “That goes beyond the pale.”
Rumors swirled Thursday about a possible debt summit at Camp David this weekend, after Bloomberg News reported that Obama is mulling the idea.
A White House official who spoke on background said via email that the talks have been “and for [the] next couple days will be here” at the White House. “If we have different plans, we’ll let people know, but there are currently no plans for that.”
But that didn’t stop RSVPs from rolling in in the negative.
“The Speaker has told the White House he sees no need to go to Camp David this weekend,” said Michael Steel, a spokesman for Speaker of the House John Boehner.
Talks at the White House have turned ugly this week, culminating last night in a blowup that Republicans say ended with Obama walking out of the meeting. Democrats dispute the version of events.
Negotiators will head back to the White House Thursday evening for another round.
