Bachmann Answers Byron York’s Submissive Wife Question

    The problem with the question is that it doesn’t substantively improve the quality of the debate in any substantive way. Those who understand what the verse means already love Bachmann – they’re not going to turn against her for being TOO Christian. Those who don’t understand that principle of our faith do so willfully – they want to believe that Christianity is essentially misogynistic and nothing a Christian explains will change that. For those we really need to reach, the middle who are neither terribly religious or anti-faith, asking the question amounts to giving the criticism credence. It will put doubt in their minds as to whether any Christian woman could really be a candidate if she takes her faith seriously. This is only a boon for the left, and a detriment to the right.
