In context he was doing a slam on people who watch dogfights. The proper word to have used is “reprobates” .. sounds a lot like “rednecks” doesn’t it?
Redneck originated as a denigrating name for a (white) farmer (of the rural south) who’s neck had been well tanned from hours spent in the field. In its original form it implied someone was uneducated, uncultured, and a southern rube…. kinda like NASCAR fans (just kidding!!!!)
Undoubtedly there are a number of folks who fit the ‘redneck’ mold but like other terms to describe population segments be it trailer trash, wiggers, crackers, niggers, or the like, political correctness steps into the discussion as the Fox hosts did to shoot the messenger for using a potentially offensive but accurate term.
Sometimes you just have to tell these people to get a life. Retarded people are mentally slow .. hence the name (retarded development).. obese people are fat… dwarfism is a medical condition.. changing the term to something less precise or descriptive like mentally challenged doesn’t change the fact that the person’s IQ is below 80 any more than saying a kid with a 135 IQ is gifted.
Time for us to rebel against politically correct speech and acknowledge that it is a tool of the left to blur the distinctions among people and impose a pre-censorship on out thoughts and words.
