    “Flash mobs” are a new phenomenon that evolved from two major factors: mobs of people who don’t have to be anywhere specific at any specific time, with the means to be wherever they want to be, and who are able to afford state-of-the-art communications technology.  These used to be mutually exclusive.  If you didn’t have a job, you didn’t have a Twitter account and the mobile broadband capability to make this sort of use of it.

    The social welfare system was sold as a “safety net.”  Clearly it has become a hammock.  These people are quite gainfully unemployed, and at public expense.
