WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) — A neo-Nazi rally in the Milwaukee area has drawn far more protesters than marchers.
The National Socialist Movement predicted at least 100 neo-Nazis would attend Saturday afternoon’s rally in West Allis. However, fewer than two dozen people were on the Nazi side of police barriers.
Meanwhile, about 1,000 protesters gathered on the other side. Some held signs saying, “More jobs, less hate,” and “Stop Nazi hate.”
A Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report (http://bit.ly/rgH0AC ) says the two sides are separated by metal barriers and lines of police in riot gear.
The neo-Nazis waved a Confederate battle flag and another flag that read, “White pride worldwide.”
The rally was a response to violence at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis last month, when black youths had attacked white attendees.
