I have looked at so many of these that they run together….
But I noticed there is one that has an angle in video where plane is about 50-100 ft above ground (AGL) shows ALL FOUR PROPELLERS STOPPED …
To me, there was no power at all in engine and pilot was just doing the best he could to get in to area where he did as little loss of life as he could.
I think he rolled to see what were his best options, and then nosed it in trying to keep in inside Race Course-almost kept it there, but got into tarmac and stands area as little as possible.
Sideslip
That was not an engine failure, and it is a single engine plane.
That was some kind of control failure or pilot failure – ie. heart attack by the looks of it. Throughout the manoevre it looks like control positions remained pretty constant; slightly back stick and over to one side to make a big ‘corkscrew’.
My condolences and best wishes for the recovery of all those affected.
