Mitt Romney’s campaign leapt just now on Rick Perry’s restatement of his view that Social Security is a “Ponzi scheme” and that promising to maintain it in its current form is a “monstrous lie.”

“PERRY DOES NOT BELIEVE SOCIAL SECURITY SHOULD EXIST,” read the headline of Romney’s press release.

Romney adviser Stuart Stevens emails:

He has lost. No federal candidate has ever won on the Perry program to kill Social Security. Never has. never will.

    Anyone who still naively supports Social Security is part of the problem and deserves to suffer for passing off their debt to future generations. Scare tactics used to make the geriatrics piss their diapers in fear of losing their SS are fraudulent. GOP proposals ensure that anyone over the age of 55 continue to receive support just as they do now. If grandma and grandpa can’t get that through their matured mind, maybe we should consider revoking the elderlys’ privilege to vote, since they appear to be in an incapacitated mental state. 

    As of today, each entry-level employee is supporting 3 retirees, which will increase to 5 by 2016 at the current rate.

    As of 2050, SS, Medicare and Welfare will consume 100% of federal tax income, even if every cent of our defense budget were reallocated to these entitlement welfare programs.
