The Tea Party Goes Global

Florida Political Press:

One of the most interesting things I have failed to mention to most people is just how far reaching the tea party movement is. Last fall, when Marco Rubio was running for US Senate, our tea party got a few calls from media outlets overseas as they tried to understand the tea party.

Why was Marco Rubio such a success and who is this group known as the tea party? The World had become curious. I was more than happy to speak to them and try to explain this movement as myself and others see it.

We had two requests for interviews from overseas that included the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) and NHK from Japan.

The folks from BBC asked to come out to my Little League game which I was coaching at the time and they spent an hour or so at the game.

They hooked me up to a microphone and did some filming with my team which the kids thought was really cool. I thought it was cool too but had to maintain my composure while I was coaching since every word was being recorded. For all the parents who have ever coached, you can appreciate my apprehension. Soon they turned their attention to the parents in the stands and wanted to learn more.

Because many of the parents of my players were also tea partiers, I was able to grab a few of them and allow BBC to interview us as a group as we watched the game. It was evident by some of the questions they asked that they had been influenced by the media. I have not yet seen their report and have no idea how it was portrayed overseas.

We spoke honestly and straight forward about how Marco Rubio stands for the values we believe in. We also voiced our dislike for Obama and the DNC and how they are spending us into bankruptcy.

At the Republican rally held in Orlando last fall, Sarah Palin, Marco Rubio, and many others spoke. We met some reporters from Japan who were with NHK Broadcasting. From what I have learned, they are one of the largest broadcasters in Japan. They filmed us during the rally as we held signs and listened to the speakers.

They interviewed many of us including Kathy Mandy who is one of our co-founders. She also was a parent interviewed during BBC’s story. I draft my Little League parents well!

They decided that they wanted to learn more about the “American” tea party movement and asked if they could come over on Sunday to Kathy’s house and spend a few hours taping. Kathy was more than happy to allow them to stop by and they filmed her and her family for a few hours.

Later that evening we held an organizational meeting where we discussed as a group what we were planning and how we were going to accomplish our goals. A plan for removing Alan Grayson was discussed and I believe they enjoyed the access Kathy and our tea party gave to them into our lives.

They were intrigued by the tea party movement and Marco Rubio’s rise in politics. I am not sure they got the results of our efforts but I think they would be proud to know Alan Grayson lost by a WIDE margin.

I have always believed the tea party movement is way bigger than the media and most people realize and last week, I was proven right. Not because I have a crystal ball, but I talk to people all the time. Herman Cain’s rise is just one example as he continues to gain traction despite what people want to believe. What I did not expect was an email I received from a gentleman overseas, in Tokyo Japan.

Kentaro Ohsone sent an email to our group letting us know that he has started the Tokyo Tea Party. It appears what we have been fighting for has now reached across the globe and people in other countries are paying attention.

This is not to be equated with the Occupy Wall Street crowd as the media would like to insinuate or the riots in Greece. If you read his email below, you will see he is sincere and believes like us.

My suggestion is that you send him an encouraging email (ken.ohsone@gmail.com) letting him know we support him and post it to let others know we are not alone. Our efforts are being heard around the world.

My name is Kentaro Ohsone. ken.ohsone@gmail.com I am a director of Tokyo Tea party (Tokyo Chakai).

Tokyo Tea Party is a political body, which devotes to make Japan free

Now, in Japan, Yoshihiko Noda became prime minister.
He has an eagerness to increase tax and intent to create much bigger
government, under control of Ministry of Finance –Japan’s most
powerful political organization.

The trend of Big Government is dominant in most of developed countries.
We do believe that people who love freedom must be united and fight
against government bureaucrats.

So, we built Tokyo Tea Party and strive to make this key platform of
various grass roots groups seeking smaller government in Japan.
Furthermore we want to build global alliances for smaller government
and freedom.

Please understand our objectives and activities, and pay attention to
us. Hopefully, provide us with any support.

Sincerely yours
