AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka emails supporters:

They can take away the tarps and the tents. But they can’t slow down the Occupy Wall Street movement.

There have been police raids on Occupy Wall Street in Oakland, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; Denver; Albany, N.Y.; Burlington, Vt.; and Chapel Hill, N.C.—and now, last night in New York’s Zuccotti Park—orchestrated by politicians acting on behalf of the 1%.

But the 99% is undaunted. Occupy Wall Street’s message already has created a new day. This movement has created a seismic shift in our national debate—from austerity and cuts to jobs, inequality and our broken economic system.

I think their objective is to highlight the crumbling infrastructure that needs allocations to promote jobs. It is difficult to outsource bridge building.

California has outsourced bridge building to the Chinese and are using foreign made materails…. All paid for with State of California tax dollars.

If they were to put the bridge building out for bid and allow non union companies and non union labor to build said bridges they would cost half as much and be completed twice as fast. With a better quality product in the end, but when you add politicians and union payoffs in on the deal cost goes up quality goes down!

Jim, I am a strong believer in unions, but I realize the temptations to cut costs. My son is a contractor, and he is always at a disadvantage with other builders who hire illegal workers. He doesn’t negotiate with unions but his workers are given fair wages and covered by insurance. The main thing is we need a level playing field and jobs.

Oh good I’m gonna go find me a bridge and get one of those big ol SS fire extinguishers and fill it full of piss and do a drive by….it’ll remind of of my HS days spraying the Mexican’s cruisin along in their Cholos with their windows rolled down, and then they’d chase us and we’d lead them to the beach where about 50 surfer dudes would waitin to kick their asses old style…all in a days fun…
