Michelle Obama’s Warning To Gun Owners

Nov 25, 2011 66 Comments ›› Pat Dollard

The Daily Caller:

by Chris Cox

Nearly three years into President Obama’s first term in office, Michelle Obama finally said something with which I can agree.

At a recent fundraiser for President Obama’s re-election campaign in Providence, Rhode Island, the first lady told her audience:

“We stand at a fundamental crossroads for our country. You’re here because you know that in just 13 months, we’re going to make a choice that will impact our lives for decades to come … let’s not forget what it meant when my husband appointed those two brilliant Supreme Court justices … let’s not forget the impact that their decisions will have on our lives for decades to come.”

This was music to the ears of the small, affluent crowd of admirers who cheered and applauded. But to gun owners, Michelle Obama’s remarks should sound like a warning bell, alerting us to the danger ahead should Barack Obama win re-election and get the opportunity to alter the current make-up of the Supreme Court.

When Americans flock to the polls in 13 months, we will not simply decide which direction our country should take over the next four years. Rather, we will decide whether or not our fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms will survive over the next several decades.

Currently, the Second Amendment clings to a 5-4 pro-freedom majority on the Supreme Court. Just one vote is all that stands between the America our Founding Fathers established and a radically different America that Barack Obama and his supporters envision.

If you want to read something scary, take another look at the minority opinions in the Supreme Court’s landmark Heller and McDonald decisions that struck down Washington, D.C.’s and Chicago’s unconstitutional gun bans. In the Heller dissent, four justices concluded that the Second Amendment does not guarantee an individual right to own a firearm, nor does it protect our right to defend ourselves, our families, or our property. In McDonald, the same four justices argued that the 5-4 Heller decision should be reversed.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms
is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try
to take it. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with
the blood of patriots and tyrants. by Thomas Jefferson…..

LOTS of reasons to vote against Obama – not just gun rights.  Job market, housing market, and Obamacare too.

Well…when Ron Paul runs on a third party ticket next November and ensures Obama of a second term…we are all doomed to destruction with a lame duck Obama who will have no fear about pushing his anti-American agenda to the absolute max!

Don’t let it come to that! Do everything in your power to elect the only candidate who has consistently backed the Constitution in every way! Get him the Republican nomination. Convince every voter — Republican, Democrat, independent, or whatever –  to take a Republican ballot in the upcoming primaries and vote for Ron Paul!

Even inmates will tell you, “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.” They savor the flavor of the day our guns are taken from the households and the individuals who would only defend themselves or others when threatened. It seems to me that if Japan would not invade America because they knew the average citizen had weapons, then only people interested in such a threat to gun ownership is someone interested in overturning America. Is that the case?….no doubt….

If ANY ignorant person amongst the dumb masses want to attempt to alter the Constitution of the United States of America’s 2nd Amendment, then it will just be a question as to HOW HEAVILY ARMED?

They may think they’re taking it under the doctrine of law, but observing it is whole different ball game ;)

  • mike3481

The U.S. Code, volume 1, page 1, there you will find The Declaration of Independence.

The Declaration IS America’s first law.

“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”

The above quote from the Declaration may be why senior U.S. military personal are, at various events, walking up to and tapping on the shoulder leading Conservatives and then say the same thing: “Don’t worry, we’ve got your back”.

Are they implying that if a 2nd Declaration was issued, complete with a list of legitimate charges against the currently elected Federal Government, they would remove said elected government and ask the states to appoint new representation? I don’t know, but in that scenario, the U.S. military would be bound by oath to support the citizenry.

There’s certainly more than enough charges to list against the current crew in D.C., both Democrat and Republican.

Beats the hell out of blood running in the streets.

    Anyways, just a thought…

If Barky is re-elected, he WILL try to take your arms. It will be done by UN Treaty, Executive Order- anything he can use. Hitler did the same thing and then challenged law-abiding Germans to call his bluff. The #2 goal of the plan to put this unAmerican into office was to crash the US thru civil war if they failed in creating a soviet state. All true patriots need to do some careful thinking and “strategerizing” over the next 12 months. The NRA publishes a great book on 2nd Amendment jurisprudence. Going all the way back to Old England, the right to bear arms is the mark of a free man. An Armed Man is a Citizen. A disarmed man is a Subject.

  • Bruce108

I disagree, respectfully; you should be willing to help anyone out who comes onboard late if their heart desires freedom and they are willing to fight Tyranny.

Supplying the cartels with weapons and she is afraid of gun owners, what a communist moron. Hitler, Stalin, and Mao would be proud.

Wow..you mean you’d skip the chance to bag a liberal, a Union goon or a Socialist??? Guess I can respect that but don’t let the Ron Paul idiots hold you back..lol

You might want to change that.  Hitler wasn’t a Communist.

Interesting thought. If social security and Medicare are eliminated, you may get somewhere. How many people can afford to be that independent of the government?

  • Anonymous

There is only a handful of people against the 2nd amendment. Most of the differences are in the interpretation. The biggest problem is the destruction of modern weapons, not those available in 1750.

  • Lee Howard

My, what a cogent reply.  Especially in the context of Bruce’s statement.

And eclectictwit has made what, for liberals and other socialist types, is a vicious counterpunch to the 2nd Amendment.

  • Anonymous

eeeKleKtiK, you should work on reading comprehension. There’s a considerable difference between jurisprudence and a firearm.

  • Anonymous

Lee, you are right. It was not appropriate. The principle of being able to defend yourself is valid. It just seems that excessive weaponry is not necessary. I’m sure my neighbors all have lethal weapons, and I am not concerned. Fortunately we have few burglaries in this neighborhood, and none of them have small children.

    Basic individual human rights-
    1. Defense of self by any means.  May be extended to defense of family and/or others.
    2. Property ownership, including the fruits of one’s labors, and defense of same.

Involuntary compromise of any aspect of these two rights, and there is no liberty, no freedom.

Oh, there’s a helluva lot of fools against the 2nd Amendment. It’s in the constitution, doncha know?  They are everywhere, in local, state and the federal government, in cities all over the USA, in law firms, policy centers–ever hear of the Brady Campaign and the witch who founded it? How about the VPC, the ACLU, the SPLC?.to name a few.  “Thou shalt not own or carry a fiream” is in the liberal bible, it’s number 2 in their One Billion Commandments, right between “Fuck Christians” and “Kill your baby.”

Anyway, how many ways can you interpret a straight forward sentence consisting of two clauses?  Problem with libs is they can’t read, they are big on words but short on comprehension, they are functionally illiterate–Aphasiacs.

The 2nd Amendment put simply, “This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. . . . ”

Now, what is this about the “destruction of modern weapons’?

I believe  the  word  arms  is  all inclusive  from swords  to machineguns  and  beyond  whatever  it  takes.

  • YERMOM

there is nothing in the 2nd Amendment that stipulates the arms must be of that era.

I swear, you are the dumbest commenter here, and possibly ever.

“remove said elected government” does not mean forming a new government, you dolt. It means replacing those who represent us.

You talk about your wonderful, higher education and how much your generation has accomplished, yet you can’t make the above distinction?!

There’s no way you are who you say you are or maybe it’s just true, that 98% of college degrees “earned” in the school of humanities isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

I think in the Declaration they were talking about disbanding or overthrowing the current government. They didn’t have an elected government at the time.

I don’t think I’m the dumbest commentator here, ever. My degrees were extremely difficult to achieve. I learned how to work hard and to think. You may not like my conclusions, but I don’t think you can make the generalizations you do.

The first paragraph in your last comment is every bit as stupid as the guy who told me. “maybe I just need to learn the difference between ‘economic communism’ and ‘political communism’”.

And by continuing, all you’re doing, quite clearly, is proving my point.

It is not just the 2nd Amendment that is in trouble here… The first Amendment has been reduced to a permit only for the socialist agenda to be discussed… and the State has actually formed a Religion… Liberalism or Human Secularism.  The fourth Amendment has been overturned by the ruling that Eminent Domain could be used for any purpose the government wants… anything at all.  The ninth and tenth Amendments have been overturned by the greedy over reach by the Federal Government using the Commerce Clause to overturn the entire document.
Obama cannot be reelected.  If he is, the American experiment of self government and the devotion to the individual is over… a failure.  Destroyed on our watch.

  • Anonymous

Okay. I will pretend I have no degrees. These are only important on job applications. Let’s just assume that what I know was learned on the street. However, I do object to being called stupid, moronic, or idiotic. I would never measure in those ranges.

  • Just a girl.

    Sandy,

You have allowed yourself to become a liberal, and I will make no apologies for saying that fact alone makes you stupid, moronic, and idiotic.

And that ‘thar is a trifecta of dumb.

Here it comes again the damn introduce the wolf cut down on big game hunters hurt the support for the NRA and the next thing you know we are 5-4 the other way. This should not even be on the table we have our 2nd amendment rights to a free and well regulated militia. Which meant each man ( now woman) had weapons to defend there area and rights not only for food but also from a government that did not respect there rights. Remember what happened to 48 of the signers of the declaration of independence.

  • Cplynch84

Well they can do away with the 2nd and come get my guns but they will get the bullets first. That amendment is so we can protect us and are family, you take that away and the government will do as they please.
