Peres: Bombing Iran Becoming “More And More Likely”

AFP:

Israeli President Shimon Peres warned on Sunday that an attack on Iran is becoming increasingly likely, days before a report by the UN’s nuclear watchdog on Iran’s nuclear programme is due.

“The possibility of a military attack against Iran is now closer to being applied than the application of a diplomatic option,” Peres told the Israel Hayom daily.

“We must stay calm and resist pressure so that we can consider every alternative,” he added.

“I don’t think that any decision has already been made, but there is an impression that Iran is getting closer to nuclear weapons.”

His comments came after he warned in an interview aired by Israel’s privately-owned Channel Two television on Saturday that an attack on Iran was becoming “more and more likely.”

“The intelligence services of the different countries that are keeping an eye on (Iran) are worried and putting pressure on their leaders to warn that Iran is ready to obtain the nuclear weapon,” he said.

In France meanwhile, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe warned that an attack on Iran would be disastrous.

“We have imposed sanctions that continue to expand, we can toughen them to put pressure on Iran,” Juppe told Europe 1 radio.

“We will continue on this path because a military intervention could create a situation that completely destabilises the region,” he said.

“Everything must be done to avoid the irreversible.”

In recent days, speculation in Israel has grown about the possibility of a pre-emptive strike against Iranian nuclear facilities, with Haaretz newspaper reporting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Ehud Barak were seeking cabinet support for an attack.

And the military last week carried out what Israeli media called a “ballistic missile” test, as well as a large-scale civil defence drill simulating the response to conventional and non-conventional missile attacks.

Officials said both events were long-planned, but they drove talk here about whether Israel is ramping up plans for an attack.

On Sunday, Haaretz reported that US officials had failed to secure a commitment from Israel that it would coordinate any attack plans with Washington.

Still, media reports suggested no final decision has been taken and that a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) nuclear watchdog on November 8 or 9 would have a “decisive effect” on decision-making.

Previous IAEA assessments have centred on Iran’s efforts to produce fissile material — uranium and plutonium — that can be used for power generation and other peaceful uses, but also for the core of a nuclear warhead.

However the new update, which diplomats say will be circulated among envoys on Tuesday or Wednesday, will focus on Iran’s alleged efforts to put the fissile material in a warhead and develop missiles to carry them to a target.

On Monday, Barak denied reports that he and Netanyahu had already decided to attack Iran over the opposition of military and intelligence chiefs.

But he said “situations could arise in the Middle East under which Israel must defend its vital interests independently, without having to rely on regional or other forces.”

Haaretz said a majority of the 15 members of Israel’s security cabinet were still against an attack on Iran, and a poll published by the newspaper found Israeli public opinion divided, with 41 percent in favour, 39 percent opposed and 20 percent undecided.

Israel has consistently warned all options remain on the table when it comes to Iran’s nuclear programme, which the Jewish state and Western governments fear masks a drive for nuclear weapons.

Iran denies any such ambition and insists its nuclear programme is for power generation and medical purposes only.

In comments published on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi accused the IAEA of “political” behaviour and said its report would be “baseless.”

“I believe that these documents lack authenticity. But if they insist, they should go ahead and publish. Better to face danger once than be always in danger,” several Iranian dailies quoted Salehi as saying.

“We have said repeatedly that their documents are baseless. For example one can counterfeit money, but it remains counterfeit. These documents are like that,” Salehi said.

Critics of the F-35 believe that because the plane cannot carry more than five or six missiles, it will not be able to withstand the mighty russian Su-27, which can carry something like twenty missiles. These critics discount explanations of how a commie can’t shoot what he can’t see, and his missiles will not strike a target they cannot detect. Critics also discount reports that modern American aircraft radars can perform radio-frequency spectral analysis of an enemy fighters INSIDES from more than 150 miles away. And then the radar can focus on the commie’s engine Alternators … and burn them up. Huh … imagine that- no missile required. And at a range FAR BEYOND any other missile. AND, the plane can do this THOUSANDS of times in one fight.

It’s really OVERKILL and SO unfair to shut down the fucking commie’s airplane without a whimper.

This is how it will go for any enemy that tries to fight Israel or America. Chinese military officials state that trying to fight the U.S. is “like throwing an egg against a rock.” Remember the Israeli mission over Syria?

Modern American and Israeli RADAR and CYBERWARFARE TECHNOLOGY blinded the Syrians COMPLETELY. They didn’t know that Israeli F-15s were overhead, both inbound and on the way back home, until much later.

The whole world may be expecting it, Iran may be expecting it. But after the demonstration in Syria of sophisticated Radar capabilities, the Iranians WILL NOT KNOW WHAT HIT THEM.

I hope you’re right about the radar tech Reloader..but obama will not side with israel as long as his regime is in power.Israel knows this already and they will have to go it alone. The ’15,and ’15E are still formidable weapons, especially with superior pilots operating them..but..I beleieve the obama and his commie leftists allies both in Washington and around the world are working everyday to empower our mutual enemies.I wouldn’t be surprised if obama has already allowed the classified tech you describe to be leaked to enemy intelligence, much the way clinton gave away our secrets to the chinese..I merely state the obvious. If I was a younger man I would try to go fly and fight for Israel. She is fast becoming the world’s only hope against muslim totalitarian rule, because she is willing to use force.Watch the power of our middle eastern enemies expand exponetially if obama is allowed to occupy the WH again.

Those F-15′s there in the image may actually have a radar very much like the F-35. That’s why I mentioned the F-35. AFAIK, Raytheon has sold a shitload of advanced AESA radars to the Israelis.

When you read the most exclusive articles on the F-22, or talk to actual F-22 pilots as I have, they make one thing very clear. Yeah, the airplane is cool, the airplane is awesome, the airplane is a fucking spacecraft. BUT- the Warfighter on board is the Radar. Even with all of its performance and the Vulcan cannon and the missiles, they maintain that the radar is far more effective at defeating the enemies it was designed to face. Which is the much-vaunted Rooskie equipment, all those fierce-looking MiGs and Su’s which, by the way have never ever won a war, no matter who was flying them.

But the F-35 radar, of which a similar unit is used by the Israelis in their F-15s, is nearly 20 years newer than that in the F-22, and it is optimized for ground attack. Which is good, because the Iranians are certainly NOT going to mount a credible air defense. We also have these newer-than-Raptor radars in some of our F-15s. One fact not denied about these is that the radar imagery is photographic: the pilot can see for himself right there in the cockpit whether your pickup is parked in your driveway from 150 miles away.

I have read that such radars can be used to infiltrate and attack computer networks. Which is a method I find difficult to comprehend. When I worked on advanced computer equipment in the early ’80s, we couldn’t get a system to work properly at a bus speed of faster then 5 or 10 MegaHertz. There was just too much ringing, echoing and crosstalk. This computer in front of me has a bus speed of 3,000 MegaHertz. How do they do that?

But I’m now thinking, however it is that they can get a computer to run at absolutely impossible clock speeds, that must also make the computer, and the network, fragile and susceptible to subtleties of RF wizardry.

And regarding the kenyan Liar and Traitor in Chief HELPING our enemies, I for one do not doubt it, but the Israelis do not use our gear the way we do, they come up with a lot of their own stuff, they fly their own tactics and they don’t always train with us or tell us everything. There isn’t much the Liar can tell the Iranians that would help them defeat the Israelis.

Also, keep in mind, The Zero doesn’t know ANYTHING about physics or modern warfare. He would have order people to allow enemy access to info, or some other subterfuge. He can’t just email anything useful from his Blackberry. It would take a lot of traitors all in the right chain, IMHO, to provide the enemy with a winning advantage.

Hmmn..The way some of the usurper’s followers live his ideology of “America needs to be punished” makes me doubt that he would have to order someone to carry out treason in that form.Today’s Washington is filled with the flag burners of the 60′s and thier offspring. All in the right chain as you say..A free radical,un policable factor, but nonetheless a greater threat than we realize. If a Bradley Manning type with unsupervised clearance were to start a leak,I believe there would be more looking the other way than blowing the whistle right now. Those that align themselves with the 70 year old communist coup going on in this country which reached it’s zenith with the illegal in chief being elected, have become desparate.Never underestimate a desperate enemy. If such a leak developed I believe obama would do nothing to stop it in order to empower it.The kind of radar i use can only paint thunderstorms at about 150 miles max when up in the flight levels. You are way more knowledable on this new stuff than me,but my gut keeps me awake at night sometimes worrying about how many people in this regime who have clearances that probably shouldn’t-AND would use those clearances to fall on the sword for their golden calf, obama.I am not Jewish, but support Israel totally. Not enough folks in this country realize what is at stake here for the free world if Isreal is allowed to be compromised any further by the plans of this so-called CIC.I like the part about the radar you mrntioned being able to fry the electical systems of the SUs and MIGs.That being possibe, mabey there is a way to fry the pilots themselves before they reach thier objectives..one can only dream..
