“American Idol” Kelly Clarkson: “I Love Ron Paul”

Just days before the critical Iowa caucus, Ron Paul has secured a major endorsement – from Kelly Clarkson.

The “American Idol” winner expressed her support for the Republican presidential candidate on Twitter.

“I love Ron Paul,” Clarkson wrote on Thursday. “I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.”

She explained, “Ron Paul is about letting people decide, not the government. I am for this.”

The “Miss Independent” singer’s support for Paul immediately angered many of her Twitter followers, however, leading her to insist that she did not believe in some controversial opinions attributed to Paul.

“I have never heard that he’s a racist? I definitely don’t agree with racism, that’s ignorant,” Clarkson wrote to one fan.

She also clarified that she supports gay rights.

“I love all people and could care less if you like men or women,” tweeted Clarkson, adding, “I have never seen or heard Ron Paul say anything against gay people?”

In a longer message, Clarkson set the record straight about her politics.

“I am really sorry if I have offended anyone,” she wrote. “Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women’s rights, men’s rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all the Republican nominees, he’s my favorite.”

    I dunno who I worry about more Ms. Clarkson, or TyS and Kb7urx who will blindly vote the party line and thus extend the lack luster status quo in DC.

      Do you wear a special helmet? LOL! What a tard. If you could read you might understand I don’t care for Paul either and think that our choices suck beyond belief. There isn’t a candidate out there that deserves a vote and if you compromise (voting for the lesser of 2 evils or a milder version of what we already have) you are voting to continue the legacy. From everything I read on here it would appear you and TyS would vote for Jerry Sandusky if he were the Republican Nominee.

      As far as legalizing pot…..they might as well when you consider that a minor traffic violation is going to cost you more than the fine for possession.

      If you’d take one minute to pull your head out of your ass, you might consider that I don’t care for what we have for choices either, but if, on that final day, it comes down to Odumbo against ANY Republican, you’re damn right I’m voting the party line..republican that is!

      A defeatist, not quite. And no, I didn’t know how you would vote, but I do now being that you admitted you would vote for ‘ANY’ Republican against Odumbo (The short term gains with long term consequences strategy). That said, ‘ANY Republican’ as you stated would include Sexual Predators……and it might also include Ron Paul.

      I don’t like Ron Paul, but the past few weeks the Media has been running him through the mill, pulling out unsubstantiated rumors like Herman Cain and many others. This is a tried an true method the media pulls any time they wish to divert from the the facts and sway public opinion.

      If Hitler or anyone else I did had apprehension about was the republican Nominee, and my chance to get Obama out of office………you are correct, I would not vote for them.
