#Occupy Protesters Attempt West Coast Ports Shut Down – With Video

Crowds of anti-Wall Street protesters have been blocking traffic at some of the West Coast’s busiest
ports today.

The protesters say the ports have become “economic engines for the elite.” They are particularly upset with two West Coast companies –port operator SSA Marine and grain exporter EGT — that they say epitomize the big corporations that make up the “1 percent.”

Several hundred people began picketing at the Port of Oakland before dawn. A long line of big rigs sat outside one of the entrances, unable to drive into the port. Police in riot gear have been monitoring the scene, but there have been no major clashes so far.

In Southern California, as many as 400 demonstrators gathered in a park, then marched on the Port of Long Beach. There was one arrest as some 200 demonstrators confronted police, but the protest has been mainly peaceful.

      This is a discussion on Laura Novak’s blog. How do we make a difference without disrupting something? By staying home and not buying anything I can make a little difference, but no one else will notice my little part. If I picket, others will consider their own actions. I don’t think, however, that picketing alone will make much difference at the ports.  We’ll see what happens with the Portland protest.

There’ll be more people at a major college bowl game than the combined ‘forces’ (what a laugh) of the whole OccuPoop movement.

       The redistribution of wealth through government confiscation (theft) is stealing from peter to pay paul, which is  what  the “movement” is all about. It’s what the demonrat party has been all about from day one. The reason it is not understandable to those of you ilk, is because of your warped world view that considers other people’s property their own. It’s called socialism/collectivism/marxism. Read a book sometime, not just listen to your idiot friends.

    The videos are of previous confrontations. So far the demonstrations have been peaceful. This has been a difficult decision for the unions. The ones supporting the stoppage are the real heroes.  The OWS are not losing pay that they would otherwise have. It is interesting that we are being made aware of the complexity of our economy. Most of us don’t think about the ports being used by the 1%.

      Where do the products go that are shipped from the docks? Food Clothing Wash Items. Answer. To the poor and regular middle class folks that is who. They are not unloading Jaguar’s and Bentley’s in these crates. Not that I care if a fellow wants to drive either car

      So this is an attempt to introduce higher prices and shortages on the low income and middle class.. Which then further aggravates the situation and plays into the hands of the Bolshevik beast who WANTS to cause anger and hostility.

    Here’s the main problem I currently have with this stuff.  If something seems unfair, then try to fix it politically/democratically.  Instigating violence, preventing some from using a park, working a job, making a wage, etc… is selfish and does NOT further your cause.  What if those few that are opposed to college football’s BCS decided to just camp out in front of and block the NCAA’s headquarters?  What about those that are vegetarians and against hunting?  What about those that hate the Kardashians?  I mean, is every, single little group of people with some perceived grievance just going to resort to un-American and disruptive means to get their voices heard?

    If these people would peacefully have a march, make their statements in plain English, then go home and work until the next rally, I’m pretty sure they’d get quite a bit of support from mainstream America.  As it stands, they all look like a bunch of spoiled children whining because they can’t just do whatever they want.
