Dem Kirsten Powers: “Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher, Matt Taibbi, And Ed Schultz Have Been Waging War On Women For Years”

By Kirsten Powers in The Daily Beast:

Did you know there is a war on women?

Yes, it’s true. Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher, Matt Taibbi, and Ed Schultz have been waging it for years with their misogynist outbursts. There have been boycotts by people on the left who are outraged that these guys still have jobs. Oh, wait. Sorry, that never happened.

Boycotts are reserved for people on the right like Rush Limbaugh, who finally apologized Saturday for calling a 30-year-old Georgetown Law student, Sandra Fluke, a “slut” after she testified before congress about contraception. Limbaugh’s apology was likely extracted to stop the departure of any more advertisers, who were rightly under pressure from liberal groups outraged by the comments.

Let it be shouted from the rooftops that Rush Limbaugh should not have called Ms. Fluke a slut or, as he added later, a “prostitute” who should post her sex tapes. It’s unlikely that his apology will assuage the people on a warpath for his scalp, and after all, why should it? He spent days attacking a woman as a slut and prostitute and refused to relent. Now because he doesn’t want to lose advertisers, he apologizes. What’s in order is something more like groveling—and of course a phone call to Ms. Fluke—if you ask me.

But if Limbaugh’s actions demand a boycott—and they do—then what about the army of swine on the left?

During the 2008 election Ed Schultz said on his radio show that Sarah Palin set off a “bimbo alert.” He called Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut.” (He later apologized.) He once even took to his blog to call yours truly a “bimbo” for the offense of quoting him accurately in a New York Post column.

Keith Olbermann has said that conservative commentator S.E. Cupp should have been aborted by her parents, apparently because he finds her having opinions offensive. He called Michelle Malkin a “mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick.” He found it newsworthy to discuss Carrie Prejean’s breasts on his MSNBC show. His solution for dealing with Hillary Clinton, who he thought should drop out of the presidential race, was to find “somebody who can take her into a room and only he comes out.” Olbermann now works for über-leftist and former Democratic vice president Al Gore at Current TV.

Enough of this “war on women” crap from both sides. It doesn’t exist, and I could most likely make a better argument supporting a “war on men” in today’s society.

People call one another names…deal with it. But if you’re going to punish someone for the words they used, you had better punish both sides equally.

By the way, has anyone ever heard how women speak about other women ? It makes these other so-called insults the equivalent of being called a “poop head”. It’s all nonsense.

You got to be kidding me – your argument is so weak and doesn’t even stand a comparison to what Rush said. There is no war on women – but there are rude disgusting people like RUSH Limbaugh and to even mention the others as comparison is a joke . Obviously you are a Republican wearing democrat clothes.  So stop being a fake and pretending to be what you are not.

Hey “freethinker,” can you explain to me why it is more offensive for Rush Limbaugh to call Fluke a “slut” than for Ed Schultz to call Laura Ingraham a “slut,” or for Bill Maher to call Sarah Palin a “c***?”  Please, I’d love to hear your answer. Why is the comparison a joke?  It isn’t funny to me, but perhaps you can explain the humor to me.

Ed Shultz is guilty of also saying a crude remark- and uncalled for .
But to say all these people are misogynists is wacko. People call men devils too.  Rush said he wanted her to post a video of her having sex – now that is a rather misogynist remark because YOU would not say that to a man
If you are going to call every one who makes a crude remark a misogynist that is absurd. A true feminist wont be afraid to take some talk , they can fight back. In politics we all make remarks and many nasty – but to use the  misogynist attack on everyone who ever said anything nasty to a woman – well that is ridiculous. especially when those women said some nasty things themselves to deserve it.

And Mrs fluke all she wanted to do was testify she doesn’t go around making nasty remarks like Ingram does and  Palin does about the other side. Even hillary did  some nasty remarks
    - so if you spew it out you better get ready to take it back and not
cry about it . Ms Fluke didn’t do anything to deserve such a attack  all she wanted to do was testify to a all male panel – so yes Rush
was gu;lity of trying to put her down and intimidate her and that is true misogyny

And the double standard is – Ed Shultz was suspended even though he apologized – Olbermann lost his job -Rush so called apology was to blame the left.for his remark. Chris Matthews apologized. And when I say they apologized they didn’t make excuses or blame someone else – they admitted their words were wrong. Rush didn’t – he said “wasn’t the best ” then went on to blame liberals  -  Wasn’t the best use of words ??? that isn’t a sincere I am sorry –

now fluke says she wasn’t even talking about herself.
