I’m in radio, and I edit sound files all the time, trying to figure out what people are saying. If someone has an audio file, I’ll run it through my software and clean up the background noise and distortion.

Law enforcement told the man that they didn’t need him to follow the kid. He followed the kid anyway… saying, “these assholes, they always get away.” We’ll just say that “they” and “assholes” is referring to ALL criminals of ANY race (Zimmerman’s criminal past is quite interesting, btw). He thought the kid fit a particular description. He confronted the kid and shot him. Regardless of what Zimmerman says under his breath on that recording, isn’t it clear that he was calling an innocent kid something offensive out of some WILDLY misplaced anger and frustration? He said whatever he said and then he shot the unarmed kid who was trying to get away. A kid who was posing no threat to anyone. Naturally, things get more interesting. Racism and arrogance are cut from the same cloth. That’s why a man can mumble this under his breath DURING a 9-1-1 call and not realize all the ways he just f***ed himself. That’s why an entire police department could overlook the mumbled words, disregard the girlfriend as a witness, and send a narcotics officer (as opposed to a homicide officer) to handle the case. It’s a “what the hell are you gonna do about it” kind of attitude.
It’s very interesting to listen to the 911 call while knowing that Trayvon had skittles, an Iced Tea, and was afraid of some man following him, as his girlfriend described. He had a hoodie on because it was raining and he had no interest in robbing anyone. Yet, in the mind of Zimmerman… all of those things made Trayvon a threat that he NEEDED to confront head on with his gun. This was not self defense. Not by a long shot. Zimmerman went out and shot an unarmed kid despite law enforcement suggesting he stay away. Terribly unfortunate for that child and his family. =(

There is the UHH sound from “punks”, and there is no K sound either. There is a “K”-like sound, that occurs AFTER the “S” sound, which is highly likely a flaw in the recording, or some other garbage. If you’re an audio technician and think he said something other than “punks” you should check your equipment. Every police report I have seen includes race, height, and age. The operator asked him for race first, and by asking established that it was important information. That is why Zimmerman would continue to include that info in his descriptions. Done.

If Zimmerman had the right to defend himself when he felt he was threatened by Martin, then doesn’t surely an unarmed teenager have a far greater right to respond to the same “reasonable fear” when being followed by a man in an SUV carrying an automatic weapon?

That’s the conclusion former Sen. Peaden has come to, especially after the releases indicate Zimmerman pursued Martin despite the dispatcher telling him to wait. week [of school] he was nothing but racially harassed.” She says that
“he was called every racial slur you can imagine,” such as “honkey,”
“cracker,” “whitey” and “guero” (a Spanish slang term for whites that
can be used in a derogatory way). He was, she reports, pushed into
lockers and was jumped in the bathroom. And, even before the recent
attack, he was sometimes menaced by groups that would follow him part of
the way home.

Even more damning, though, is that multiple educators were complicit
in the harassment. Mrs. Coon related an incident in which a teacher she
identifies as Ms. Carla Kinder called Allen “Casper” and then “got all
the students to get involved.” Other times, the students would initiate
the harassment and the teachers would pick up the baton. “They would
tease him; people would make fun of him and they’d chime in,” said Coon.

Then, as the Wildeisen girls report, as Ashley Miller reports, there
were the race-baiting films. Said Mrs. Coon, “They showed a lot of
racial movies. And people would make comments – lots of comments –
especially at him [Allen], during these things.”

Just to be clear, in Florida, you can shoot someone anywhere you have a legal right to be and as long as you say the words “self defense” the police have no right to arrest you and if they do and you are found not guilty, the police officer will face disciplinary action? If your answer is yes this is clearly a problem with the interpretation of the law. My understanding is that the writers of the law said that if you PURSUE someone, that is not covered by their law.

I believe this is not a racial issue no matter how hard people are trying to make it. If a white kid or a hispanic kid or a asian kid were the victim, the law still is not being applied correctly. The race of the victim and the perpetrator are incidental. Anyone should be outraged if any unarmed person is shot while returning from the store.

One further point in my study of this law and it’s misapplication made by the people we entrust with making us safe as well as those who voted for the bill:

However, I personally have a real problem with the guy shooting this kid. If he felt his life was in danger, he should have disengaged and awaited police. If the police get there too late, then you move on…because he was not the police. I listened to the 911 call about 8 times…I heard “F*ck, it’s cold.” Posted that part of the call without posting what I thought it said and responses were pretty much the same as mine with one person stating he thought it said “F*ck the Po” (Po being slang for police.) With all the audio technology available today that can clean the recording up, remove any background noise, focus on that one part of the recording, and increasing volume and decreasing speed – why is this even a questionable matter anymore?

I have listened to the audio of the 911 call and I don’t believe the “term” used was either “coons” nor “punks” nor “toads”… What it sounds like to me was that the Zimmerman used the term “cunts”… Yes it may be a derogatory description, however it is NOT racist… Slow the playback and listen to it closely… you can hear the hard “k” sound of “kuh” in it at the start, however you also hear the “ntz” sound at the end… When you take the 2 phonetic sounds and combine them, “kuh” + “ntz” = “kuh-ntz” aka CUNTS…

Again, this is a derogatory slur, but by far is NOT a racial slur… This along with the obvious fact that Zimmerman is from a multi-racial household (Hispanic/Black) and is highly unlikely to use the phrase “coons” as a descriptive term due to his familial conditioning and knowing how offensive the members in his family would view such a comment…

Another thing to keep in mind people is that Zimmerman was “walking away” when HE was grabbed by the so-called victim… The evidence also shows the contusions and lacerations on Zimmerman’s face that were sustained from the attack against him by Martin… The audio also compares and shows that the person calling out for help matches the known audio file clip of Zimmerman’s voice on the 911 call, showing that Zimmerman is actually the person calling out for help…

This statement does NOT mean that I condone the use of deadly force against Martin, however I do UNDERSTAND how Zimmerman reached that decision and I believe that the evidence, along with the witness statements, show that Zimmerman was NOT outside the realm of believing he was in fear of his life and therefore reacted accordingly… It is also not a RACIAL crime of “white on black” as the media has portrayed it, as neither of the individuals involved in this incident are white… When neither party is “WHITE”, how can this be viewed as a “white on black” hate crime???

The media on BOTH sides, LIBERAL & CONSERVATIVE, need to stop putting their individual spin on the incident and simply STICK TO THE FACTS… It was simply a “Male on Male” incident…

Trayvon Martin was NOT an innocent role model for people, he had been recently suspended from school for graffiti tagging, was associated with known gang members, had been caught in possession of stolen property and refused to give up the name of the “friend” who gave him the items… NOT exactly a “role model” in this writer’s opinion…

George Zimmerman is a “self-proclaimed” neighborhood watchman, NOT an appointed watchman… However, deep down don’t you want somebody to help you keep an eye on your back? Zimmerman did call the police to report the suspicious behavior of Martin, and YES he was advised by the 911 operator NOT to follow Martin… However, when Zimmerman did attempt to walk away from Martin, as he was advised to do so by the 911 operator, Martin saw this as a “weakness” and approached Zimmerman to assault him…

I can see myself becoming “upset”, as Martin apparently did, if somebody made an assumption that just because I was dressed differently than the “norm” and especially if I were to hear somebody call me a “cunt”… So I can see myself becoming offended over it, but it does NOT mean that I would go on the attack of Zimmerman for his narrow minded statement…

At the same time though, if I were in Zimmerman’s shoes and found myself on my back being attacked and hit in the face by somebody who did NOT run away upon seeing that I was armed with a handgun, but rather instead of running away they CHOSE to attempt to disarm me after beating me down, I would consider that a threat to my personal safety and act accordingly…

Poor choices were made on both sides, but ultimately the worst choice made was by Martin who CHOSE to continue his attack on Zimmerman even after seeing that Zimmerman was armed and in a state of fear…

The results of this incident, ie. the death of Trayvon Martin and the division of people along RACE lines, are the result of STUPIDITY and poor judgement… NOT racial profiling as the media wants you to believe… We need to stand TOGETHER and demand that our political leaders and the media maintain an open mind and not cloud the issue with bogus allegations and simply stay with the facts and AWAY from “spinning” things to fit ANY agenda, whether liberal or conservative…

My deepest condolences to the families of each side for the losses they suffered… Martin’s family lost a son, nephew, etc. while Zimmerman’s family lost their IDENTITY due to poor journalism and had their ethnic identity stripped from them so that Zimmerman could be lumped into the “white” racist category instead of being recognized as Hispanic/Black…

How can anyone say that because Zimmerman was getting his ass handed to him means that he had a right to shoot Martin? Anyone would’ve been ready to fight or defend themselves if someone is following them. So it’s wrong that he got his ass kicked (or would’ve if he didn’t shoot Treyvon)? He wasn’t suppose to be following him to begin with. If a man is following you while your walking home from school, work, the store, etc wouldn’t you be scared, and/or ready to defend yourself. Fight or flight kicks in and he decided to fight. He never should’ve been out of his vehicle or walked close enough to even get into a confrontation with him. He was on the phone with his girlfriend while he was being followed. She told him to run and he refused. So he made no calls to neither his girlfriend or 911……he just told her he’ll walk faster. If your being followed you have the right to turn and ask why your being followed….hell you even have the right to fight or run. At the end of the day he shot an unarmed boy that HE was following in the dark. He’s not a cop…therefore he isn’t suppose to act like one. Once the dispatcher told him to stop following him he should’ve stopped. Martin was in a unfamiliar place because he was visiting his dad. He was on the phone…..if that’s the case than anyone walking around should seem suspicious regardless of their color, age, sex, etc. But Zimmerman having a gun gave him the confidence to get up close to Martin….close enough for Martin to confront Zimmerman. That never would’ve happened if he listened to the dispatcher. I’m white, and I know plenty of men (of many different races) would’ve been ready to fight or confront their stalker rather than run away. That doesn’t mean that Martin was wrong…..it just shows that he felt threatened by this strange adult male that was following him in the dark. But at the end of the day there is a law in FL that allows people to stalk others and then kill them when they either start a fight with you or confront you. That sends a bad message to everyone in that state and it should’ve be one given regardless of race. At the end of the day we have a dead teenager who had candy, tea, and a cell phone on them and a person who turned stalker that is alive. MARTIN WASN’T in flight. According to the police report, if you’d get the fuck off of wikipedia, zimmerman was on his back being beaten when he fired the shot. A witness confirmed that a man in red (zimmerman) was getting his “ass kicked”. The witness ran upstairs to get a better look when he heard 1 shot, when he got to the window zimmerman was beginning to get up and martin (unfortunately) was on his back in the grass right next to zimmerman. This man has a record against the police do you really think there is some sort of cover up? they released him because the grass stains on his back and the wounds on his face and the back of the head (where witnesses said they saw martin smashing zimmerman’s head against the ground) all pointed to self defense. Martin didn’t have a scratch on him. Zimmerman tried to walk away. REGARDLESS of what might have been said between the two why the fuck would you attack a 250lb fat guy at night if you didn’t have some sort of “i can kick anyone’s ass” mentality? i don’t care about Trayvon’s grades or his school activities. The kid assaulted a man and got shot..legally. A black radio announcer like a week after this brought up a story and a good point. Two black teenagers followed a younger white 14yr old home from school and doused him in gasoline and lit him on fire (he survived) then the radio host played the news audio clip. They never mentioned the color of any of the kids..just that they were teenagers. The kid that was burned later reported that one of the kids said “burn white boy”. If THAT had been two white kids burning a black kid there would have been riots. I swear racism is turning around in places. All the Jesse Jameses and NAACP members don’t give a shit about Trayvon…they don’t care about black or white or anything in between…the only color they see is GREEN.

First of all, this is not an act of racism in the least. Anyone who says it is, is clearly an oblivious asshole. The race card is ridiculously overused, if I as a caucasian woman say “nigger” I’m racist, but if a black woman or man says “cracker” for example they’re not, because of course no black person in America is racist, right??
Secondly, this man stated there have been break-ins in the area and this kid looked suspicious. If you have the opportunity to follow someone who is more likely than not breaking into homes in your neighborhood and have them arrested, wouldn’t you go for it? I know that my husband would have most certainly done the same as Mr. Zimmerman and followed the guy so he could keep police updated until they arrived. If this kid got violent out of just being followed, it shows his character off the bat. Why didn’t he try using some verbal communication? I’m sorry but when you bash someone’s face in, they have every right to shoot you, blatant self defense. Example: When I was younger and in high school 2 black girls tried to jump me for the most absurd nonsense I had ever heard. After having tried multiple times to talk to them and be adult and get the situation resolved verbally and failing every time I gave up and ignored the issue hoping it would go away. Needless to say it did not and they initiated a physical confrontation with me. After all was said and done, I was supposedly racist because I had defended myself and stood my ground. There’s no dealing with these people and those that defend them. They’re genetically outmatched by most races and they have little ambition to better themselves. There are exceptions, yes. However this whole case is largely blown out of proportion by the media.
