Uproar Over Santorum Allegedly Calling Obama A “Nigger”

Did Santorum actually say something so out of character and patently offensive? A slew of websites (especially Gawker) seem to think so.

Santorum Campaign senior strategist John Brabender spoke with The Blaze this morning and denied it was anything:

“We are not going to dignify any question on this matter. It is such an absurdity for anyone to try and bring race into this campaign. Anyone who does, should be ashamed of themselves.”

This isn’t the first time Santorum has faced questions about catching himself during a speech. In January, many accused him using the term “black” in a blanket manner in a speech about welfare recipients. Back then, he said “I was starting to say one word and I sort of came up with a different word and then moved on.”

So then, what’s your explanation for the video? Santorum says “anti-war government nig-”, stops himself, then moves on to a different line of thought. If the accusation that he almost said nigger is dishonest and immature, then what did he actually mean to say?

As a black man, you don’t speak for your race any more than I, as a white man, speak for mine. So saying that you, as a black man, don’t buy this accusation means nothing. It means only that one individual, with no explanation, with no given reason, doesn’t believe that what is plainly shown in a video clip actually happened.

I love the surreal, ‘Alice In Wonderland’ feeling I get when I see grown men attempting to tell me that something which is proven by videotape didn’t actually happen. “We are not going to dignify any question on this matter. It is such an

I presume Santorum just managed to stop himself making the same ‘government n****r’ remark as aimed at Cleavon Little in Blazing Saddles. Shows that he’s at least 40 years out of date. Hasn’t he noticed that things have moved on a bit ?
