(NewsCore) - Rick Santorum has vowed to continue the fight against Mitt Romney, but a note from his team Wednesday announced that he will do so after taking a four-day break from the GOP presidential campaign trail.

“The Santorum for President campaign will be taking a brief break from the campaign trail so that the team has an opportunity to return to their homes and spend time with family and friends,” said a statement on Santorum’s website.

“The Santorum family wishes everyone a safe and blessed holiday weekend.”

The candidate was expected to hit the trail again Monday.

While Santorum aides insist that the former Pennsylvania senator will use the time to plan his attack strategy ahead of the Pennsylvania primary on April 24, the news was certain to raise doubts about his continued viability in the race.

Santorum has faced calls from many in his party to quit the race and allow Republicans to coalesce behind Romney, who holds a virtually unassailable lead in the delegate count after Tuesday night’s victories in Wisconsin, the District of Columbia and Maryland.

Why is this unreasonable and a surpirse? Santorum as a Christian holds dear the sacrifice of his lord and savior. Why would he not want to observe the Easter holiday with family and also give his staff the same opportunity? Rick Santorum believes in family, values, and principles. He should be praised for putting them above all else.

The holiest time in the Christian liturgical year begins on Thursday, April 5th with the evening Mass commemorating the Last Supper when Christ Jesus established the Holy Eucharist with His disciples – the new and everlasting covenant.  This commemoration of the Lord’s Supper begins the Easter Triduum: Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.  And of course on Sunday we celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord.  I’m grateful to see Rick Santorum will be taking this time away with his family and friends.

Grow up!   IT”S EASTER WEEKEND..  Christians across the land will celebrate this holy time.  Schools close ….even Publix closes!  He is taking a few days off (has had a cold for weeks) and has not really been home since Christmas.  I am sick and tired of the media trying to make the fine man quit.  He has WON ELEVEN states and many other states want to vote for him.

Give me a break! I would expect him to take an Easter holiday. The last time he was on a break with his family was Christmas.

Hard to believe that a person might actually REALLY put God before politics?   How tragic that our country has reached this point…

Wow the media grasping at straws. It’s Holy Week! Today is Holy Thursday, then Good Friday, Easter Vigil on Saturday, & Easter Sunday. He’s spending time with God & Family during this time, not suspending his campaign. Which is as it should be! Kudos to him for taking that time!

So grateful for a leader with the correct priorities!  God first, family second and then facing the hard battles.  The ones that really count right now, taking back the freedoms we have allowed to be taken from us, such as the killing of unborn! I am praying Rick, his family and all that work with him will be strengthened for the second half of this battle.  Game On!!

As President, we can expect Rick to actually give a care about Christian holidays, and it will be so refreshing to see a president go to church on a regular basis.  It’s one of the things I miss about GW.
