Excerpted from Mediaite: David Chalian, the former Washington Bureau Chief for Yahoo! News, has joined POLITICO as their Vice President of Video Programming, according to POLITICO writer Patrick Gavin. Chalian was let go from Yahoo! In August after he was captured on an ABC News online video feed of the Republican National Convention saying that the Romney family was “happy to have a party when black people drown.” Chalian was referring to the impeding landfall of Hurricane Isaac, which hit the area around New Orleans right as the RNC was convening.
Soon after the audio of Chalian was uncovered, Yahoo! Issued a statement condemning him and announcing that he had moved on.
“David Chalian’s statement was inappropriate and does not represent the views of Yahoo!. He has been terminated effective immediately. We have already reached out to the Romney campaign, and we apologize to Mitt Romney, his staff, their supporters and anyone who was offended.”
