Excerpted from The Weekly Standard: In response to North Korea successfully launching a rocket earlier today, the Iranian regime sends its congratulations.

Iran “congratulates the [North Korea] people and the government” for “the successful launching of the satellite-carrying rocket,” Iranian brigadier general Massoud Jazzayeri said.

He said, according to the Iranian propaganda organ Fars News, that the U.S. couldn’t stop states like North Korea in these efforts.

“History has shown that independent states can rapidly move on the path of progress and self-sufficiency in scientific and technological fields through self-belief if they resist and persist (in their efforts),” said Jazzayeri.
