Excerpted from The Wall Street Journal: First he banned smoking in bars and restaurants, then trans-fats, then large sugary drinks and now New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has his eyes set on Styrofoam.
“I am very upset with you,” a caller, identified as Chris from Staten Island, told Bloomberg on the mayor’s weekly radio show Friday morning.
“You’re on a track to ban everything, and I’d like to know why do you feel that (way)? I mean, no other mayor is doing what you’re doing. (Former Mayor Rudy) Giuliani would never ban everything.”
“You can still buy cigarettes,” the mayor replied. “We haven’t banned that!”
The mayor added: “This is not asking anybody to do anything that’s really going to hurt anybody. But it’s good for everybody. So we’re not banning everything!”
