Maryland Muslim Charged In ISIS Plot To Attack Service Member: “That’s, Like, My Goal In Life”

Excerpted From The Washington Times: The FBI arrested a Maryland man last week and charged him with providing material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization.

Nelash Mohamed Das, 24, of Hyattsville, who moved to the U.S. from Bangladesh 20 years ago, is charged with plotting an attack on U.S service members on American soil.

Mr. Das’s social media posts raised suspicions with U.S. officials, and it wasn’t long before he met with an undercover agent posting as an Islamic State supporter.

“Our goal is to catch dangerous suspects before they strike, while respecting constitutional rights,” U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein said in a statement, the Baltimore Sun reported Monday. “That is what the American people expect of the Justice Department, and that is what we aim to deliver.”

Prosecutors said Mr. Das, a permanent legal resident, was under the impression that an Islamic State contact in Iraq would be the pair $80,000 to slay military personnel in Price George’s County, the newspaper reported. He was arrested after buying guns and ammunition in Virginia and then heading to a service member’s home.

“I’m ready,” prosecutors said Mr. Das told a source on Sept. 11 of his pending attack. “That’s like my goal in life.” Read the whole thing
